No idea this thing existed. I have twin 454 crusaders and I'm putting all new belts (along with alternators) on. Going to hit up my local auto parts store for one of these. Thanks for keeping it simple.

hey mike, this has been my life for quite some time now. i had a bad alternator and was diagnosed as good. we were going thru the belts quickly. always guessing on the belt tightness and burning up belts either way, to tight or to loose. i replaced the alternator w/ the db from your vid, and now all is quiet and soudning great!, i owe you another beer! thanks for the great information and technics and products....

NIce Video. I have just enough skill to be dangerous, lol. I replaced my SBC last summer in my Trophy 2556. I had to shim the pully's to get the belts to fit. I went through three sets of belts last summer including a loud belt squeak. I thought alignment was the problem, but I discovered that I forgot to put the second bracket on the alternator. Now I'm thinking the lack of tension caused premature belt wear, causing the squeaking, which caused the premature breakage. This video explained what I was thinking. Thank you. BTW, I've had great luck with DB alternators and starters for years. Guess I'll try their belts next!

Whats the difference between v belt that is solid, and belts that have notches? (The old belts vs the new one you put on?) I bought a gates belts that has is solid, and inst as thick as the dayco which has the notches. They are both the same length, same width but not the same thickness? Thanks

What is the actual belt tension tightening procedure? Sorry that may be a lame question but I didn’t see that step in the video.

Loosen the bolt holding the device in question. Pull taught, the belt, and tightened the bolt in question. Try to achieve a 50 lb target, as measured by the kricket.

hi mike, thanjs to your help i got the core plugs in , the thermostat changed, raw water impeller changed and installed a new db alternator smlar to what you installed. many thanks!! my latest frustration is finding the deck leak ! seems rain water is hitting second step of cabin entry and pooling on the cabin floor.... i just found a wet towel on the cockpit dashboard[directly above the step w/ rain water on it] behind the windshield. how is that possible w/ canvas covering the windshield? any suggestions?

Water leaks are the worst. I have a few ideas in mind, but you will need to check various locations. Just remember that water runs down hill.

Hi Mike, i have a chevy 5.7 small block and am replacing my belts with same D&D Power Belts. On my boat i have a what i believe are NAPA Premiums XL 25-7455 (power steering) and 25-7465 (alternator). Would you be able to tell me if these are the right belts that should be on it. In addition im wondering if the vendor sent me the right replacement for the 7465 belt cause i received one of the 2 today and after trying to install it, i cant bolt on the adjuster bolt on the alternator to bracket. Belt seems just a bit too short now. They sent me a belt labelled 15465. Is this right? Thanks in advance.

Hey Mike sorry this is off topic, i couldnt find a video for my issue. It doesnt seem like you have a video for throttle cable adjustment. Do you have any input on how to adjust the tension on the 5.7 cobra throttle cable. When i go in either neutral or any gear i have to move the lever a good distance in order to give it gas. Seems like my set up is very loose.

Hey David! Have someone sit near the cable end while you slowly move the throttle forward (give it gas). See if the person on the carb side notices any slack. I'm talking about forward and back motion in the cable. If there is, I'm thinking you have a bad throttle cable. It's rare, but possible. I'll have a video on this in the week. I have the 5.0L , but same belt configuration. Are both belts recommended for the same tension specs?

I use the same spec for all of them.
