No need to suffer from double vision with Graves' disease

Dr. James McDonnell explains that Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease that can result in a special eye misalignment. His patient, José Vega, explains how his eyes would often tear up and eventually he had severe double vision. His left eye was pulled down so that it was looking at the floor. Driving became impossible for Mr. Vega, and basketball, which he really loves, was just out of the question. Mr. Vega says that before surgery, his "quality of life, it was zero. There was nothing I could do." Dr. McDonnell explains that with this outpatient surgery, he adjusted the muscle that was tight. Mr. Vega said that the surgery was quick and easy and that he was home by noon. He is overjoyed about being able to play hoops with his friends again.
