Toyota is having the same problem with their 3.4 Turbo V6 right now. So they must not have learned from Hyundai’s issue

Yes the dealer service lead told me to keep my 5.7 V8 Yota and stay away from v6 turbo. They are full of metal in the oil pan and backed up waiting forreplacement parts. Owners are out of luck with no help for overpriced tundras

Your problem with Hyundai is that they are made in America. In Australia we get our Hyundais from South Korea and they just go and go and go. In our family we have had about 8 of them and never spent a penny on anything other than fuel, oil, and consumable items like tyres and brakes. That's it. They never brake down, they don't burn oil. I've never heard of anyone even replacing a radiator. The issue is all about American quality control. Physician heal thyself!

Our Kia here in Australia runs like a watch - 2 litre petrol engine - uses no oil between services. Very popular here. My mechanic even bought one for his wife, and he HATES working on his own cars.

@@GF-mf7ml Complete unmitigated FALSEHOOD. It was a Korean engineer in Korea who initially blew the whistle on Korean cars in Korea blowing up and catching on fire. You can search and watch the KOREAN news person reading the news in KOREAN about cars in KOREA blowing up. Get it yet? The engine that replaced the blown up engine in my Tuscon was replaced under warranty with a brand new engine shipped in from KOREA that blew up 11 months later. The made in America problem is just gaslighting from the KOREAN company that is absolutely aware of the utter trashness of the THETA platform, and refuses to do anything about it.

Just goes to show, if you properly maintain your vehicle, it’ll last forever. My dad has had an ‘88 Lincoln Town Car that he bought twenty years ago that he’s the second owner of and it’s still in immaculate condition aside from a worn driver seat and still runs like a top.

Toyota is having troubles with the v6 truck turbos, and I heard yesterday that thèir 3 cylinder engine in the Corolla GR is having troubles also. Toyota needs to get back to basics. May God bless everyone 🙏

@@billybarnes9208 things were the best when they were true imports from Japan. When I lived in Japan, the vehicles were so much more reliable, lighter, better fuel mileage and smaller engines. Their little four cylinder turbo diesels and whatnot that they had in the Mitsubishi Delicas, and in their little SUV that looked like an 90s s10 blazer, were ridiculously powerful and couldn't even hear them.

I have the same car (same color even), but it’s a 2011. It has 211k miles. Hyundai put a new engine in it at 143k (burning oil). Have had to replace the shift solenoid and the neutral safety switch just in the past month. I think I got my money’s worth since I only paid $17,700 for it. My wife has a 2017 Santa Fe with 202k. No issues.

I have a 2004 Elantra GLS, one of the gold colored. 208,000 miles and still running strong, no oil burning, replaced timing belt at 150,000 and still looked good. Shame it's rotted so bad, Long island car. The stories that car could tell, greatest accomplishments chariot for my 2 passed wives through their cancer battles.

That is sad to read of your losing 2 wives! Some of us have never found 1 good yet. Hate cancer! Lost 2 good mechanically inclined neighbors who helped me out many times. Soon to lose another due to prostrate cancer. My state Oregon is going the crummy way of salting the roads! As I`m retired I plan on just not driving when the roads are salted. My old trucks are still in 1 piece even after 54+ & 40+ years on the road as Oregon had not used salt in past years. When you have a vehicle that has gone through thick & thin with you don`t really want to get rid of it. At 1 point I lived in my 84 S10 P/U during 1 summer during Oregon`s BIG recession of the early 80`s when Oregon actually lost almost 500,000 people because of no jobs.

If you want to drive a KIA or Hyundai get one made in South Korea, get it new, and maintain it like you paid $100k with best oil, PEA fuel additives and top tier gas. Also, park them in a garage. Asked me how I know.

Hey Scotty, my first car was a straight 6 four door brown ford Maverick that my Mom paid 300 buck for. That thing was a tank! It drank oil and trans fluid on a regular basis but never let me down, even in the snow belt blizzards I put chains on the back and it would go anywhere! Loved that car.

Hey Scotty, I got to tell you I bought a 2013 Kia Sportage in November 2012 and I’ve heard nothing but people having issues with 11, 12 and 13. In November, I’ve had this car for 12 years and it runs smooth drives smooth and I’ve got 298,000 miles on it. Oil gets changed by myself at 5 to 6000 miles then I use Quaker state full synthetic. I’ve had to replace starter alternator water pump and a timing cover because my studs for the motor mount broke but other than that no problems

My mother bought a 2012 Hyundai Sonata new.. and after 12 years its has been great with zero problems. She has the base model GLS and has over 100 thousand miles. It doesn't burn any oil and its all orginial .. 2012 was a good year. The only proble m she ever had was a radio that doesn't work. One of my own cars is a 17 Hyundai Tucson Limitied AWD Dual Clutch with 135k miles , bought new .. and never had a problem with it , never ...another good Hyundai .

ive had two hyundais back to back and other than routine maintenance ive not had issues with mines .. all vehicles have to be maintained .. does not matter if its a mercedes . nissan , chevy , hyundai ... take care of them and you wont have the issues you outlined

I have a 2012 KIA Optima with a 2.4 and It doesn't burn any oil and has no rattles and feels as new driving it as the day I bought it in 2012. I've only replace the brakes and rotors with a good set of cross drilled and slotted. The only major repair I had to pay for is the High pressure fuel pump failed internally and I caught that when I was checking the oil. something I do regularly. KIA replaced My engine with 80,000 KM on it after it failed a sound test looking for the dreaded bearing damage. I was Shocked when it failed because I was Having no problems with it. The engine was replaced within the same week as the test and have had no issues with it . when they replaced it the warranty was extended to the life of the car for that issue. I'm not sure that is the same down in the states but it is up here in Canada. Note My Optima was made in South Korea

I have a 2014 Sonata. Engine blown at 48,000 miles, dash board cracked all over the place, numerous recalls and problems. My brother has a 2015 Sonata and his motor seized at 42,000 miles. Friend of mine 2013 Sonata also blew up under 50,000 miles. They give you a pretty turd.

I have a 2015 lpg (built in SK). Driven 90k KM. It had 480k before I bought. It drives well. Maybe engine was worked on before, I am not sure, but am bery happy with it so far (3.5 years)

My 2011 Forte SX 2.4 is still running at 133000m...doesn't lose any oil between changes at 4k. I took it in for the ABS fuse recall and they broke one of the studs that hold the fuse in...Kia now is replacing the under hood fuse box because the stud is part of the box!

2008 Hyundai Azera with the 3.8 Lamda. 120,000 miles. Had to replace one of the Oil pressure valves/switches at 80K. The rear one that you must pull the intake manifold to r & r it. Replacing HVAC air flow actuator now. The car rides like new.

The 2007 to 2012 Santa Fe's... just no... do not touch. I could put a list of reasons, but I will stick to one major issue, you have to remove the rear axle to replace a wheel bearing because the external ABS wheel is in the way of the 4 bolts. It makes a guy want to pack up the tools for the day.

Hyundai and kia are very popular in gcc countries. They even use it as taxi fleet on a 50 degree summer sun and 500k km mileage is just normal.Haven't heard any of these problems here.

Like I’ve seen in the comments it seems if you maintain the car a lot of times they can last. I’ve got a 2013 Ford Focus with the automatic transmission which I know Scotty doesn’t care for according to one of his older videos. I’m a little over 187,000 miles getting about 36.3mpg. Don’t know that it uses any oil. Been using high mileage oil since about 75k. As he said I know what I’ve got with this car so I keep fixing it. Just had to get 2 shocks on the rear, a couple of tires and got the ac recharged. But at this mileage I figure you expect something:)

That looks like my Ford Fiesta. 2012 model. 1.6 L 4 banger. Starts, runs, and races. Just the stupid emissions. One more year......clock says it was builtr in 2011. I'll keep it until I pass away. Only 68,000 miles on it now. Too cheap to sell.😃

I told my mom don’t get an Hyundai suv but she did anyways brand new Tucson 2023 80 k on it now since 2022 -_- So far nothing just oil changes Filters No big problems fingers crossed .

I'd love to know what Scotty thinks of a 04 Ford mustang... im not really a car guy but i got a decent deal on this car and it only seems to need some minor work. I'd love to know some tips i could use to keep my engine lasting the longest i could get it to. Should i use gum out or seafoam just to keep up with my engine cleaning? any response is very welcome thank you all!

In 2024 I don’t think there’s a vehicle that comes with a regular transmission anymore it’s a manual transmission or some form of a cvt. Which means twenty years from now we will so be driving a vehicle with some form of a cvt in it. It’s sad but true.

Yes my daughters 2013 Hyundai Santa sport engine seized at 65k while going to pick up a pizza. Fortunately Hyundai replaced with new engine and turbo no cost but took 10 weeks

JATCO is affiliated to Nissan - not Hyundai or Kia. Hyundai and Kia introduced their iVT in mid 2020. Before that pretty much exclusively 6 speed tried and true automatic.

Was a huge Toyota fanboy until the last 2 years when the idiots in charge decided to go with small turbo engines in their trucks and SUV’s. Lo and behold, they’re breaking and blowing up all over the place. Probably the least reliable, least practical vehicles now being sold. I would buy a Nissan Frontier before I’d buy a new Tacoma, and a Titan before I bought a Tundra. Absolute garbage and hugely disappointed in Toyota.

It comes with 100k drivetrain warranty, on my second one no issues whatsoever. I’ve had all makes , take care of it it will last a long time . They have come a long way in the past 30 years! I was wary at one time , not anymore!👍

My brother's Hyundai Excel engine blew up back in the early 1990's after burning all the oil. The funniest thing is that thing was like a golf cart, I tried to stay away far from it because I had a Camaro. I remember he jammed on the brakes at a light and we just started busting out laughing at the noise it's tires made screeching. I popped 2 of the little tires, both on pot holes just driving down the road, lol. What an absolute joke. It's experiences like that that wreck future customers, because I would never, ever, buy a Hyundai. Glad to hear some years engines didn't seize up burning oil on their cars.

I have a 23 Palisade and it has been a superb vehicle , however it is their flagship vehicle that is sold world wide that they have more than likely invested billions in developing ...

Have you seen the issues with all popular car brands in the last few years? Almost nobody has quality control anymore, and they are trying to mask the issues by adding tons of unnecessary "comfort and convenience" items to entice buyers. Seriously, why is Dodge putting a 1o-inch screen in the dash directly in front of the front passenger that displays they same info as the screen in the cluster display and the center display? And everyone is pumping out new tiny turbo engines with no proven history of reliability. At least Hyundai/Kia offer a 100k powertrain warranty. The only Hyundai products I ever owned that were technically a piece of crap was an 88 Excel and a 92 Excel, and they still lasted 10 years without major issues.

@@jp1087 It has a lot to do with the various rules and regulations in the USA now in Australia we get the same makes of cars apart from some USA built vehicles and there is one brand the USA don't get is Suzuki's and fortunately we get them in Australia and we own a Suzuki Baleno there is no stupid engine cover and only port injection also the Beleno gets imperial over 50 mpg on the highway and that's with Port injection

The Sonota luckily is their more luxury car (sitting just above the Elantra) so the Sonota is closer to the Camry probably, but for $19k you could probably still get a base model Corolla if you wanted something new, but cheap. I'd say IF you are buying a Kia or especially a Hyundai or Nissan, it may be a good idea to buy an extended warranty (like a 7 yr / 100k mile warranty) . It's one of the rare times I say it might actually pay for itself at some point....

I have a 2024 Sonata and so far it's fine. It has all the bells and whistles but I won't hook my phone to it, but my wife will. Up to 43mpg on the highway with a few miles getting to and from the highway of city driving. 8 speed DCT transmission. It is drive by wire though and it drives me nuts because when I take my foot off the gas, I want the car to start slowing down and this thing will hold speed for another 10 seconds. I can't say I recommend it unless you want lots of tech and a real automatic transmission for under $30k out the door about $27,500 before tax. A different hyundai place want $31k for a hybrid Blue Elantra I need to go cruise their parking lot.🤪
