@coastiewoody4 күн бұрын
Very rarely do we see drunk drivers taking full responsibility and dealing with the guilt, day in, and day out. I commend Matthew for his honesty, and I feel so terrible for Vincent and his family. I also feel bad for Matthew. A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver in the middle of the day. The road they were on runs parallel to the freeway and has two lanes for each direction and a turn (suicide) lane. She was driving home from work, and she was passing another car (slowly as she wasn't speeding), as she was in the left lane. She had even looked over at the car and waved at the kid in the backseat. Then, a man who was drunk and barreling down this road going in the opposite direction drove straight into oncoming traffic, hitting Brittany head on. The car she was next to had that mom & child in it, and the mom said, "I will never forget the look of terror on her face. She knew what was coming and there was nowhere for her to go, and she gave this look that she refused to swerve into my lane. She went from smiling and waving to terror." That mom was also very thankful because she knew and felt that my friend was trying to make sure the car didn't hit that mom & child. The man driving that car never apologized. He never took responsibility, and he was a horrible person to the judge and jury. The kicker to this whole thing? 20 minutes before the crash, multiple 9-1-1 calls were coming in from multiple different people in a Fred Meyer parking lot (Fred Meyer is like Kroger for Washington & Oregon). They were saying the man was drunk, belligerent, and was a danger to everyone. These callers also blocked him in so he couldn't leave. He managed to bumper car his way out and then he caused that crash just minutes after he left. Had the dispatcher and police showed up (as they had multiple cars in the area of that Fred Meyer due to the crime in the surrounding neighborhood), my friend would still be here. That man is still in prison, but honestly? He deserves to be under it. Anyone who causes the accidental death of another and refuses to apologize does not deserve to walk free ever again.

I was not, all the bones from my pinky to my shoulder ended up dislocated and I had a fun new fear. I kept having nightmares, and one night when I was in my mom's bed because I couldn't sleep I asked her how a person could just drive away like that, for all she knew I could be dead, that must be a horrible guilt to live with. My mom, understandably, did not care about her feelings, and she told me something along the lines of "I hope she always feels this guilt" and that I shouldn't worry about her feelings. I never want to drive, I'm 25 and too scared to hold this kind of power in my hands, and sometimes I still think about her, is she wracked with the guilt of possibly killing/disabling a kid? It's sad that some people need this to be their wakeup call. My wakeup call was just observing how much even a single beer affected me the next day. Since then, and thanks to Allen Carr's method, im 19.5 months sober.

Atleast he took responsibility and wasn’t selfish, honestly most people will just try get to get away punishment free (I bet you reading this would, same as me) but this person accepted the consequences, so respect to him for owning up to his actions.

People should be like him. Not the drunk driving part(😂), but taking full responsibillity when you do something wrong
@TheKitsuneOnihane2 күн бұрын
I do hope that one day he can learn to forgive himself. He accepted his mistake, taught others not to do what he did, took his punishment with grace, and served his time. His actions in response to his terrible negligence are very commendable. So I hope he heals.

He said he would serve his full sentence, but ended up applying for early release, which was granted. He didn’t cooperate with police before making his confession. He never apologized to the victim’s daughter. These are all things said by the victim’s daughter, Angela Canzani. She believes this man’s confession was self-serving. She didn’t want him to be released early. She just wants people to remember her dad, instead of focusing their attention on the man who took her dad’s life. RIP Vincent Canzani

Why would he cooperate with the police most people don’t do for their trial? Lawyer literally say not to. Also apologize? What’s supposed happen? All is forgiven? Also does he even know the man had a daughter? Where did you get the info?
@_zoid4 күн бұрын
@@mydogghost Have you even been through a situation like this before? You’re replying to all my comments disagreeing with everything, yet asking some of the most basic questions. Have you never been in court for this kind of sentencing? The defendant gets to speak, the victims get to submit victim impact statements and read them if they would like to, and the victims get to be there at the sentencing with family and friends for support. Of course this guy knew his victim had daughters, and had the chance to apologize to them. Google “Angela Canzani” and read her opinions of her father’s killer.

@@mydogghost Her name is Angela Canzani, you can read up on her opinions. She has made statements in news articles. I feel like you haven’t been part of a criminal case like this. He knew his victim has daughters. He had the chance to apologize to them at the sentencing, they had the chance to read their victim impact statements then, too.

I am happy he still hold himself responsible and accountable. May the God of forgiveness be close to his heart and that he will seek God and be free from his guilt. All humans are bound by the curse of death and Jesus is the one who broke that curse and free those who trust alone in him in Spirit and in Truth. Not as the world giveth but the Spirit of God.

😂 U r mistaken...See my comment elsewhere if interested in why🦌💖 "Babla Mohenjo BAH-blah moh-HEHN-joh The LIVING ECK MASTER during the reign of Constantine I. He had a small school for ECK CHELAS near Constantinople and was at the Council of Nicaea called by Constantine in Bithynia, Asia Minor, in AD 325. It troubled him to see the church pronounce Christ an equal with God, yet he saw in the deification of Christ an inescapable direction for the Christian church. He did not interfere."
