I just got my 3 ulti Gravirose in the mail this week. I've been working on a build myself. Looking forward to the profile.

The gravirise ultis are crazy, I’d recommend investing for the deck profile ❤

There was an experimental build running 3x gravirose, 3x volcanic counter in the main

Love the video! I think you diagnosed the issue with the deck having consistency issues. I have always found gravirose’s maintenance cost to hold it back alot and i overall think the lightsworn monsters provide utility like popping cards along side milling. I am looking forward to see how the deck plays!

Personally, I think Lyla is much better. Rose only becomes good when she has survived a round and then only if you have her plus another planned monster at the start. Lyla can make a difference without even needing a card in her hand. I noticed if you can protect Lyla for a round (Raigeki-break and co.). Not only do you mill again, but your opponent doesn't set any spells/traps for a round.

Gravirose is in theory a good starter (a better one than LSW I agree) but also has been tested throughout the years and found to be not good enough. Remember the likelyhood of having another plant alongside gravirose in your starting hand (given u play 2 gravirose total + standard plants) is only 56%. so 44% of the time it is a complete blank in your hand. and it gets worse in mid game, where lyla/ryko really can put in some good work. Also Charge is just too good. Rather than kicking the engine completely, ppl need to think about when to play their lsw cards, as playing them going first is not good anymore.

Think about what does your bad hands usually look like? They tend to be filled with plant bricks with no way to utilize them, meaning gravirose pairs with the bad hands of your deck. Which is what you want it to do. In the hands were you pop off and don’t end on any plants in hand you're already winning, and the gravirose is the same as the last support cards to make the deck 40, like tomato, gale and sangan. Which are also bad in the too 10% openers. Sure you'll have a few hands where you wish the Gravirose was a Lyla, but I think the opposite is also true. Starting with Valley also gets you deeper into your deck so seeing a plant in hand for turn 2 to pair with Gravirose is far more likely.

@FrozenCardGaming Bad hands can also consist of a lot of non plant hands, like tradein, equippackage too many traps etc.. in tjat case a charge/lsw or sangan is a blessing! I do like gravirose valley synergy, but again you can only play grai in 56% of the cases. And then calculate how likely it is to survive to Standby phase..

I wouldn't get too hooked on percentages, those are more so reserved for DB ladder. As tournaments are played out in a small sample size you can afford to build your deck by minimizing losses, as you likely already need to high roll some amount vs the more competent players in top cut.

Nice video; what would the ratios of the cards be in the main? :)

I love that someone is finally recognising the potential of Gravirose. It was really hard for me to understand why Botanical Lion, pretty much a vanilla beater, was being played instead of the rose that not only gets over all important atk thresholds for a normal summon, but also provides extra value for every turn the opponent fails to remove it. Looking forward to seeing your build!

I agree! The card is very slept on. Check back soon for the in-depth deck profile and some DB replays.
