Okay, wait, I think I figured out the secret to John’s ridiculous shiny luck: He has three other channels and they’re all subscribed to PM7, which increases your shiny luck. CLEARLY the luck boost is exponential instead of additive or multiplicative, and he is now the human equivalent of a shiny charm wearing a shiny charm.

I once started up a nuzlocke in Diamond. Got my starter and was headed to the second town where the professor is. First encounter shiny Starly. At that point you do not have poke balls. I just gave up.

You think that's lucky. In the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Violet, I ran into a shiny Treecko as the VERY FIRST wild Treecko I ever saw. I also found a shiny shinx using the Poke Radar in Brilliant Diamond. The catch; it was the very first encounter on the chain! It happened because I was looking for a Sunkern for the dex, and I just happened to encounter the shiny.

​@@dawnsbuneary My first day playing Pokemon Violet I just walked out of the academy, took a short walk, and the first Hoppip I saw (well, it was in a group but, you know lime green kind of sticks out especially when the others are pink lol) was shiny. I caught that thing so fast and saved immediately after lol. Also years before Scarlet and Violet came out I was hunting for shinys in Pokemon Ultra Moon via the ultra wormholes (I won't include most of those in my "luck" counter since after you go a certain distance in the ultra wormholes you're pretty much guaranteed to get a shiny unless it's a legendary... although I did find either a random shiny exeggcute or a shiny Psyduck (I caught one my brother caught the other) in either Moon or Ultra Moon)...well...while pretty much all of the shinys I got from that weren't really all that notable seeing as how...you know, _SIGNIFICANTLY_ higher odds...there was _ONE_ that _WAS_ notable...a shiny Celesteela. Which is notable because the shiny rate for Ultra Beasts and legendaries isn't increased no matter how far you go. And I've never managed to get the shiny charm in any Pokemon game so it was a full odds shiny Ultra Beast. I've also caught a full odds shiny Pidgey in Let's Go Eevee (I didn't have a chain at all and just happened to notice that the Pidgey's color looked off...I also caught a shiny Tentacool in Let's Go but I was actually shiny hunting Dratini so I _DID_ have a chain) as well as a full odds shiny Pikachu (and Paras) in Arceus before even unlocking outbreaks.... But other than that my shiny luck is abysmal...and notably most of these (aside from the Celesteela and Exeggcute or Psyduck) all of these were over world Pokemon which probably helped me out a lot when it comes to actually finding them lol.

My first ever full odds shiny was my first encounter with a metagross in the crown tundra (sword, specifing cuz idk if they're version exclusive or not). My best overall shiny luck has been in kitikame w/ shiny charm (no sandwhiches), up to 4 atm that weren't being intentionally shiny hunted
