'No one is proposing a ban on cars' | Newstalk

Minister of State with responsibility for Business, Employment and Retail Emer Higgins has said she will ask Dublin City Council to pause the Dublin transport plan that is due to come into effect in August because of concerns about the impact it could have on jobs and retail sales in the city.
Shane Coleman is joined by Louis Copeland (Louis Copeland & Sons) and Michael Pigeon (Leader of the Green Party group on Dublin City Council) to discuss the issue on Newstalk Breakfast.

Buses are stuck in traffic because bike lanes were more important to the greens, most of the traffic congestion is a result of bad traffic management, making it worse to justify big changes

The bus drivers would drive on top of ya. Breaking lights all the time. They're worse than cars. The luas is far to congested in Dublin and theres a huge amount of crime on the public transport. Thats not being fixed

There is already a bus lane on aston Quay all the to heuston and beyond and like wise there is a bus lane from collins barracks to batchelors walk to Eden Quay, they actually closed off part of the bus lane on Eden Quay to make a 20m wide cycle lane

The explanation is really simple .This insanity will snarl up traffic both buses and cars back to Inchicore ,back to the navan road ,back to Chapelizod ,the n4 will snarl up at the exit into chapelizod .All traffic going northside from the n4 /n7 will now have to up church st ,turn right up dorset st to get to any part of the northside including the guinneas trucks bring product to the docks .This will mean buses coming up the quays instead of been delayed at O Connell st will now be held back as far as Islandbridge .Nothing will change it will just slow traffic which has improved to a standstill .People will stop buying big ticket items in shops and retail will close ,hollowing out the city centre with pubs clubs cafes and gambling joints surviving and anti social and criminal behaviour will increase and the city will end up a bigger kip than it is already

We just want to make it so it's near impossible to drive that is all 🤣🤣 yeah now watch as the country that barely works stops all together as trucks that deliver everything won't be able to without massive upcharges that go onto the customers and all the people who live outside of Dublin and Cork who drive into it. Myself and my fiance are moving out of Dublin hopefully next year because we can't afford to live here it's cheaper to live in a different county and work in Dublin.
