I put 2 chair caps on each end for support and grip. I also attached a bicycle inner tupe air valve on top to act as a a hand grip similar to a crook. It also functions as an eye poker when striking on the side of the stick.

I just picked up a Cold Steel Walk About walking stick($17.49 on sale at Midway USA.) Its just over double the weight of what I've been carrying so it will take some training to get use to it. Just an FYI the CS bokken is $13.99 and the 54" training staff is $20.99.

Great lesson as always, thank you very much! United Cutlery as well as Cold Steel are manufacturing Shillelagh walking sticks made from polypropylene which is, according to them, sort of indestructible. They look impressive to me. Of course, blackthorn is the traditional Irish way of making them...! I wonder how you think about the polypropylene versions. Best wishes and stay safe too 🙏

I have the cold steel poly shillelagh. It's a tad thick and heavy for me, but a chac son gout. It is a tough stick. Standing on it, it bends but doesn't break, and snaps back to true once I step off. It was my girst fighting stick and drew lots of compliments and attention.

Matt, Great vids! Been watching several of yours since last week. What cane size, design, and material would you recommend (in addition to or instead of) the straight 1 1/4" x 36" Hanbo walking stick you're using in this vid?

@MrAllmightyCornholioz

Oil then polyurethane would make it last even longer. It just requires more patience. I do recommend burying it in cat litter or baking soda until the smell is gone because polyurethane fumes can make you sick. Alternatively, you can use shredded paper, air freshener spray, and wrap it around with a big towel(s). I also use modge podge which you can get at arts and crafts store. It’s a water sealant and it doesn’t smell like polyurethane.

@@pasquinilli I see younger males coming into kwik trip,hoods up,black mask cover all the way up to eyes,i am tempted to ask what's wrong or why act like he's hiding from camera from people.I would not consider without my hanbo . i do Not carry my hanbo,or cane in public, people look at me if i do . Some men watch me to close,so i leave it in the car.madison Wisconsin is the state capital, protestors . Stupid blue State,but it's a tie with Trump now , I wonder how Matt thinks an acts about being so skilled an strong in public. Young males not men yet,looking like a protestor, or terrorist. Doesn't that make them our enemy at the first attempt of violence.
