This brought a tear to my eye! I’m a 57 year old hardened, sarcastic, jaded man because of all the turmoil in the world over the last 3 years. I had a German Shepherd that looks just like Biggie. I had her 14 years. She died in my arms on April 7, 2010. A dogs love is priceless! I think of her and all of the dogs I lost over the years! I have 2 dogs cuddled up next to me as I write this comment.

This Is not an happy story, He bought the puppy....Don' t buy puppies ! Buyin it's not the solution , Buyin it's part of the problems...If you buy one puppy the sellers keep on let others puppy born... When already there are milions of unwanted animals that don't find a home and are conducting miserabile existences or are euthanized..buying one dog means another dog was abbandoned on the streets or euthanized. If breeders see that buyers disappear they will stop to force mothers dog generate other puppies and one day hopefully all animals could have a family. Don’t buy, sterilize your dogs and cats... and adopt!!

haha, he was just the odd man out of the litter, he had a hernia and is a cryptorchid so only one testicle had dropped...of course somebody was going to grab him but I was lucky that he was kind of pushed to the side till I got there because of the health " defects"

Anyone who's ever had a GSD puppy surely is as charmed as I was to see the segments showing The Ear Saga. I was thinking about these dogs this morning, about no matter how serious their jobs might be--police canine unit, drug sniffing, support animals--they never completely give up the goofy. I had one 60 years ago, and she still resides in my thoughts. They are such unique beings, and such marvelous friends.

I had a dog once, Dave, with the cutest floppy ears but every time I tried to take his picture, his ears shot straight up. By exercising Biggie 2 hours a day is probably doing amazing things for your mental health. Exercising that much is so much more fun with a buddy! I found getting a cat that would be considered “special needs” because of her intense fear of people, and crocheting (after stopping for 10 years due to severe arthritis) has done more for my mental health than any prescription could.

That's so true. I suffer severe depression and anxiety, and I can tell you that I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my 2 beautiful cats and 2 gorgeous dogs. They have saved my life several times over when I really didn't think I could continue, and I'm so grateful to them for their undivided and unconditional love. There was no way that I could possibly desert them after everything that they have done for me, and their pure love has been a true godsend. Thanks, my gorgeous little furbaby family. @@biggietheshepherd6642 Absolutely! My husband came across a dog crying in the middle of a field, so scared. He picked him up before he went back to work & dropped him off to our son at home. He was a big, clumsy puppy who wormed himself into our family right away. That was 12 years ago & he passed from cancer 3 years ago. He left us & our extended family in tears… he would have given his life to protect his family. We rescued a new boy 3 years ago who had been kept in a cage because the owners had no idea what having a GSD would be like. They returned him to the breeder who is a friend & knew our Geddy had passed & offered him to us. He definitely has his issues, but he loves everybody, which can be a problem for any strangers because of his size. Little do they know what a big ole baby he is, lol. Your story brought me happy memories & tears. We’re still not sure who saves who! ☮️✌️

Great story! I had all kinds of dogs in the past 30 years and each one of them was special. Alain Delon said: "Dogs are like children who are just allowed to live 10 - 15 years". I think of my children who are not with me anymore and I miss all of them dearly. Love & peace.

I suffer from dealing with depression, sometimes severe. Denying it until I am 56 years old, and the medication I now take helps, BUT... 8 months ago I adopted a 3 year old Dachsund from a rescue shelter. Little did I know, it was she who would rescue me! She has definitely become the largest part of my every day life, and the joy and contentment I feel from making her days the happiest days possible in turn makes my days happy. When I want to stay in bed and mope all day, Cannoli ain't having it! She allows me to sleep in until maybe 8 am then she is in my face, "Cmon Pop! Open the damned doors! Let's go outside. Cmon, cmon, cmon" She does her lil goofy happy Snoopy style dance, and I have no choice but start smiling, then laughing, sometimes hysterically. If I am sitting and staring ,listlessly, Cannoli magically senses it, and she will come over and start nudging me and putting her paws on my lap and looking at me with such intense love and concern, as soon as I pet her, her tail wags so viciously her whole butt shakes back and forth. She is not a lap dog, nor much of a cuddlebug, nor a licker, yet she has 10,000 ways to show me her pleasure and how much she loves me. I dunno what her 1st 3 years were like, but I have promised that the rest of her life will be pure joy and happiness. She seems to have promised me the same!

I got a dachshund that ended up becoming a certified therapy dog for my ptsd after my fathers suicide and it was and is life changing been 11 years now this dog knows how to get rid of any sadness he can sense and is so in tune with me my mother and my daughter he really saved our family ❤️❤️❤️ loved hearing your story

Isn't being owned by a dachshund the biggest joy? I've had the privilege of being loved by doxies my whole life, singly and in pairs. My friend in my profile pic is the last I will ever have and just hope I outlive him by at least a day so he doesn't feel grief or fear.
