I just want to share this here... I gave my life to Christ at a young age of 15 and have had my ups and downs. I know that He is faithful above all. He is worthy of praise and I can truly say that there is no other name but Jesus Christ. He has given me a wonderful church here at university. I don't deserve His love and mercy for I am a mortal who has sinned. By His grace and mercy He has chosen me. I am greatful for Him for his love and unending mercy. Did he succeed in what He came to do? OF COURSE! therefore the law of sin and death can pass away. also you are correct that Jesus sometimes taught law on steroids. He did this to show people that they could never be perfect of there own will and actions. Romans 7:4 christians are saved by grace through faith, apart from works. works are a byproduct of our faith. if i believe that what Jesus did is enough for to be saved i will confess it with my mouth then Holy SPirit comes to make His home in my heart and He transforms my desires which leads to a new life and new actions(WORKS, GOOD FRUIT). the laws only purpose was to lead us to Christ. the law reveals how sinful we really are and shows us that we need a deep personal relationship with God. if you believe that not keeping the law will render you unsaved or uninnocent then you have fallen from grace because you are attempting to be justified (made innocent) by the law. the law can never ever save you! only a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus can. be freed from bondage in Jesus name! My mom is in the hospital right now recovering from surgery treating her breast cancer. I was feeling really anxious about it, so I put on this song and prayed that she would recover and be able to come home today.
