Id say the stand-out performance this episode was from Mike. Getting the bone marrow and mushrooms roasting from the start was a great idea without pans, and the polenta as a base was excellent. Most everyone brought their A-game, but that initial direction allowed for the end dish to be as it was

I have to be honest, Mike is probably the best person to go first which is why he never ends up going first. He takes it in a direction and leaves enough ideas without forcing them down a route they aren't comfortable with. We must never let him go first ever again.

I agree Mike did a spectacular job going first I mean he really got a couple of clever ideas going immediately without trying to overthink them with the assumption that the rest of the team could pull them together and honestly it already sounds like a great meal. I haven't seen the whole episode yet I just saw the part with Mike but I was very impressed. Edit: lol Jamie at the end. If they want to really make it so you can't use the hob, they should simply make a no hob episode rather than a no pan episode I think the bowl was fine but I'm really glad that JB did not leave that glass bowl on the hot oven because oh my gosh I'm almost positive it wasn't the type of glass that can handle that, lol

Theory: for all his flapping, Mike is actually at his best when he gets to start off a dish, because he's not panicking about figuring out what someone else is done; he gets to pick and set up the direction, without the time spent racing around the kitchen trying to work out what's going on. It worked out well for him this episode!

I think all their scores deserve to be higher - Mike did SUCH a good job setting it up, Ebbers set Jaime up super well, and brought things together and Jaime plated something amazing, bringing all the different pieces together. Usually, I think Barry ignores the direction he's being nudged down and does his own thing (whether it's productive or not), but all 4 of them did a super good job working together.

i think this is the most harmonious, least frantic pass it on there has ever been. A well deserved pass

Back yourself Mike that was a great start! 👏👏👏 One of the only PIOs i can remember where they actually progressed from what was already there! To keep it up how about a mezze pass it on where each person has to contribute a dish for the mezze but you can only leave clues (ingredients and equipment) for your suggested dish and the next person has to cook whatever they think you've got in mind. Then they leave out ingredients/equipment for their suggested dish which the next person cooks and so on...
