My favorite part is the mistake at 18:48. Been listening (obsessing) over EVH for 30 years and this is the first time I've EVER heard him hit a bum note.
@TheDmonet Жыл бұрын
Apparently you didn't see the 2004 or 2008 tours. He hit a lot of bum notes on those tours. I'm obviously a fan of Eddie to be here, but idol worship to the point of believing things that aren't true is problematic. Like people saying Jimmy Page was flawless. Page played like shit live 75% of the time live.
@jameyd4155 Жыл бұрын

@jamesburke1019 Жыл бұрын
Good catch, your 1st replier was a bitter man talking about tours that happened 25-30 years later but during the golden years yes that was probably his only bum note. The fact that there was only one of them is even more proof that he was the GOAT.
@TheDmonet Жыл бұрын
@jamesburke1019 When you pay good money for tickets and your former idol is too wasted to stand up during his solo, you have a reason to be "bitter", if bitter is the term you like to use for people who have been ripped off and voice their displeasure with it. The type of ass kissing we see here is exactly what enabled Ed to keep destroying himself for years and behaving terribly ....there were always suck ups around who just wanted to be around Eddie Van Halen. "yeah Ed, you're playing great! yeah ed, you don't look like a homeless ghoul with all the meth/crack you're doing!"
@philipseitz3844 Жыл бұрын
Priceless I was 13 years old the first time I heard VH on the radio and the guitar tone was so big and massive that it jumped out of the speakers and grabbed you and wouldn’t let go. Then I watched my friend play ain’t talking about love on his vantage guitar and I was hooked I had to learn to play guitar. That was over 40 years ago and I have been playing in bands ever since but as anyone that has tried cop eddies brown sound it’s way more then just plugging in to an amp and playing the notes it’s his attitude and approach that makes Eddie so special. I feel sorry for anyone in this day age that never got that excitement of waiting in line at your local record store for the next vh album to drop.

The eddie rabbit hole is insane. How many other musicians built the sound from scratch that he had inside his head. That equation is never going to be solved no matter how many try. The wizardry he accomplished is mind boggling. Name another player who developed a sound beforehand with what he heard in his head before ever knowing how to do it. He tuned his amps like a muscle car with raw horsepower with a restrictor plate like a Nascar. His volume knob was the gas and the fretboard his steering wheel. And of course his magical fingers knew how to manipulate the tone...
