BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah constituency AL Hek during a conversation with EastMojo said that the ongoing Gau Dhwaj Sthapna Bharat Yatra is not affiliated with any political party. Hek clarified that this yatra, which seeks a ban on cow slaughter does not have any political undertones.
The yatra, which began in Ayodhya and is traveling across various Indian states, calls for the prohibition of cow slaughter nationwide. The Meghalaya government on September 27 decidedto write to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to deny the landing of a chartered flight carrying Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. The decision came after members of several NGOs and pressure groups gathered at Umroi Airport after hearing that cow protection activists were set to arrive. The spiritual leader’s plane is expected to land at Umroi Airport at 12 noon on September 28.
Earlier, the spiritual leader, was turned back from Donyi Polo Airport in Arunachal Pradesh’s Hollongi after facing opposition from members of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU).
