Good job. I bought mine brand new 1986. I don’t weld like I use to so it sat for about 7 years. I got the same problem. Gonna try that with brushes. Pain in the but getting my hands in there and my eyes suck too. Lol. Good job.

Thanks for the tip. I hope I can fix a welder that worked until it sat outside for a long time.

Awesome video I just picked one up today gonna try the brushes and clean that see if I can get power

nathan tew you can also try flashing it with 12v. If it makes power but doesn’t make power after you shut it off and start it up again, then you have a flash resistor burned out on your board. Super easy to change. There’s 4 of them And most likely the two inner ones are burned out. Like $1.50 in parts

I have a ranger 8. I can't get it to arc. Ground is clean. Receptacles work fine. Any suggestions?

How did the mount go? Also, can you show the brushes again, steady cam view, and how they are supposed to flex and where you loosen them and how to adjust. Please and thank you.

I know this is an old video. I have this same machine. Thought I was having a similar issue with the battery not charging. Found out I was using a battery that didn’t have enough cranking amps. I’m pretty sure those $20 wal mart batteries are 150 cranking amps, and I think you need a minimum of 350 for that machine. All this to say when I switched to a larger battery I haven’t had a starting issue again.

Remove the flywheel and replace the stator it may be the reason is not charging the battery

Norberto Suarez I’ve learned these things pretty well now. Most likely the voltage regulator and if not that then the stator. Multimeter is a good tool to have lol
