Stalled the subie less times than I did my current daily a 92 Chevy k1500 5.7 nv3500 5sp. Truck did have a massive fuel pressure issue due to to the filter being clogged, drove it like that till last week actually and it drives so much better 🤣 found the truck for my coworker for $500 two states away, he brought it back, put a new front clip on it, a new bed, cowl hood, rear bumper, we did the clutch, I did the rockers and cab corners, and the leaf spring hangers and shackles along with adding 1 ton springs. He got tired of it and wanted to find a 1 ton, so he gave me the truck since my other shit box was just killing me on gas ( a 93 gmc suburban lol) he gave me the truck and I blew the diff. In a car that has problems? That’s how you teach them how to do things you shouldn’t. Something is wrong with the transmission so you need to slam it into the gear to get it to go in? @Apollonia937 ай бұрын
Crying of laughter. This was me driving my mom’s 2002 Ford Focus wagon for the first time after getting my license. I managed to stall it close to 10 times at one intersection. Then I got even more nervous and kept trying to drive off with the handbrake still engaged. I was praying for no further stop signs or red lights on my way home. Hearing your labored breathing put me right back in the driver’s seat that day. I had many cars behind me and saw a bicycle approaching from the right. I decided right there sorry, not gonna yield to you today, my guy! And so I went from creeping in second gear to going full throttle in fourth. Not sure how many kph I was over the speed limit there, but I figured it would be better than hitting the bike or risking another stall and having the cars behind crash into me. Bottom line: Don’t get embarrassed. Learning manual is an essential skill and you chose a great car for it. The older Hondas are indestructible. In a few weeks, finding the bite point on the clutch and shifting smoothly will become second nature and you’ll be so grateful you stuck with it.

This video is hilarious, no make of car in title, the heavy breathing as you continuously stall, the rattles and creaks of this piece of shit car. Actual art. Edit: This comment gained some traction so heres a few things to help the OP or anyone learning manual: 1) Get someone who knows manual to take the car on a little test drive, if theres something wrong with the clutch or any other issues you might not realise as you don't know what "right" feels like. 2) Watch English Driving Instructors as we all learn manual over here so they know how to teach it more effectively than a lot of the American vids I've seen - I highly recommend "Conquer Driving" 3) If you do stall just leave it in first and push the clutch down and restart the engine, no need to go into neutral. 4) Just practice on a car park (parking lot) setting off and moving. Don't be afraid to ride the clutch a bit, it's not gonna do any damage if you're at a reasonable RPM, it's what the clutch is designed to do! 5) Don't try to set off quick at junctions (intersections), stop signs etc. Just take it easy and go slowly, if you try to go quickly at the beginning you're way more likely to stall. Good luck!

Glad to see people still learning stick. It will be second nature soon. People wont like you stalling now, but in a few months you can flex on them with some heel toe down shifts. Also to add on to what others have said: You can feel where the Clutch engages and disengages by slowly pushing the clutch in and out. The car can be off to get the feel for it aswell. The peddle should get a little stiffer/heavier when the clutch is engaging. Also make sure your pushing the clutch all the way in when disengaging. But dont let other drivers discourage you. Learning another way to drive will make you a better driver overall. Keep it up.

@@SyncF As somebody that's been driving for 6 years now, (I'm still rather young), and I enjoy driving alot, especially since I drive an old but fun car, a manual is absolutely a must have for me for any form of "fun" factor, I've driven quite a few cars up till this point, and at least to me, the auto is just mindnumbingly boring, because people say it's better for city traffic and commuting to work, sure that I agree with, but still would rather drive a manual, because driving an automatic make commuting to work feel more like a chore, while driving a manual even in traffic just to work, makes it at least a tad bit more exciting and lifts my mood personally.

Loved this video buddy, I know exactly how you feel. Learned in a Vauxhall Corsa shit box from 2003. There's nothing more rewarding than when it finally clicks. Manuals are so much more rewarding to drive and they all have personality. Best of luck to you man

Dude you don't understand how funny yet how cool this is 😂As someone who drives a 2003 Camry LE with 340k miles it's so cool seeing someone else my age also driving an old worn car especially when they're trying to learn manual in it.

the first time I ever drove a manual was an old ford ranger I bought from a guy on craigslist. I stalled it in traffic 10 times in a row on the way home. Cop lit me up, pulled along side and said "is there something wrong?" I simply said "first manual" and he understood instantly lol. I'm much better now after some practice, no stalls in months. Nothing like the feeling of ripping through the gears getting up to top speed, I don't want to go back to automatic.

Reminds me of my first half hour driving on my Ls, it's good you're learning in a shit car, cause you're gonna have a great range for experience and should be able to drive anything safely once you've learned. Good luck boyo. Have fun, follow the speed limit, and be safe.

Aye my man. I got the same car. Purchased mine for $1600 at 189k miles with a stick too. They are great cars and super fun as well. I drive mine all the time and racked up 25k miles on it, nearly stress-free. It never left me stranded and I had to only replace wear items (clutch and timing belt) during my ownership Unsure if this is your first car or whatnot, but if you fix her up you'll definitely love it over time. They truly are underrated cars. P.S. I would prioritize getting that power steering fixed, the power steering is super nice on these cars.

Facts I learned manual in a 02 accord. Super fun cars mine had 238k when I bought and sold at 249k. Probably only stalled it 3 times total when learning manual. And how it locks out first gear after pretty much moving really helps.

That car sounds delicious, here's a tip, press on the gas a bit more and while having the clutch at the biting point when you want your car to move from a complete stop, it'll help you stall less. Anyways props for learning to drive manual, with no power steering and it's a gasoline engine which is harder than diesel, you're on hardcore mode, good luck in your learning

I understand these clutches, I remember driving a 1997 shitbox with 58bhp some months ago, you can't feel the clutch I mean it was so worned out, almost 0 torque.
@tflp19507 ай бұрын
A few things to try and help you on your journey: 1) Get someone who knows manual to take the car on a little test drive, if theres something wrong with the clutch or any other issues you might not realise as you don't know what "right" feels like. Good luck!

Why is this more entertaining than high hp pov drives 😆😆
@Taima3 ай бұрын
Serious answer (cause i got nothin better to do). It can be for any or all of the below reasons: 1. High hp POV drivers are more common 2. This video is far more relatable 3. Video is arguably pretty funny 4. Video arguably elicits other emotions (sorta #2 but) such as empathy, sympathy, pride in another driver persevering with a shitbox and learning manual and with no power steering for good measure 5. Something I was gonna put here but can't remember now lol
