In about 2019 or so, I acquired a 1995 Honda Civic Si Hatchback for $4k, with 170k miles. It was a completely unmodified, one owner, clean title and no accidents. It still had the factory hubcaps and tape-deck. The interior is complete and like-new, no missing screws or broken/worn bits. I'm happy to say it's remained in this stock condition since purchase and I simply can not get rid of it. The greenhouse visibility, factory engine/exhaust sounds as intended by Honda engineers and the "slow car fast" aspects are just a few extremely special items that can never be replicated. Sure it begs you to modify it, but the OEM feel is so special too. I don't need to shave lap times on my way to work, nor sacrifice every aspect of ride quality for a stiffer chassis. It's perfectly wonderful as is and I just know this 1999 Honda Civic Si is just as good if not better. Enjoy and hold onto it forever, or join the millions that regret selling theirs.

i drive an e46 325ci and yeah i would agree, 20 year old cars are still really nice daily drivers. modern conveniences like carplay are fun, but aren't really necessary and can be made up for by bluetooth and phone magnet. i don't find things like cameras and sensors necessary since i can just look. thinner panels are probably concerning for safety, but i do like the extra interior room in a thinner package. it's all worth it for the way it drives and handles and communicates. nice and raw.

I had a new 00 Si. Some downsides: road noise, slow steering ratio, no torque, hot seats (they don't breathe since it is rubber with synthetic mouse fur on top), unsupportive seats. A/c vents only hit you from the nipples and up making the hot seats even hotter. Lack of solid feel. No ABS available on the Si version(sounds crazy but true!) Positives: good looks inside and out, fun motor when in vtec, good trans, absolutely HUGE side windows and great greenhouse view. The 91-94 Nissan SE-R was a superior vehicle in every way except looks and high rpm operation.

As a owner of a hatch with less power Than this si from the same year I must say it all comes down to being spoiled. Get these cars on smaller roads an you get to understand why these cars are the best and why people keep bringing them back with faster motors . Crash safety, you thinking about binning it bro? That's a bad start , be the most alert driver you can be , start predicting drivers , start visibly giving others a chance to go , use indicators every time you move . Someone tail gating turn on your lights, and most of them gonna think you stepped on the brake. Getting into position early ,planning your drive all the stuff we do to be better drivers before Technology made millions horrible.

I had a black 2000 Si and I'm pretty sure it was cursed or something, because I had nothing but problems with it. It ran and drove smooth as butter when I test drove it, but I immediately started having major issues once the title was in my name. First engine blew after less than a month. Second engine had an idling issue that I was never able to figure out so I replaced it again. Then it seemed like everything started failing after that. I'd fix one thing and three more things would break. Owned it for less than a year and got fed up with it and ended up donating it to a shop teacher friend of mine who I believe ended up giving it to one of his students. Seeing what they're worth now, I kinda wish I'd have put it in storage, but oh well. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
