Thankfully there are thousands of Pi's in stock now, and it is getting better all the time. Alternatives are great, but the available Pi support makes the project easier and simpler to get running properly in most cases. Happy Printing!

I completely agree! Having a wide availability of Pi's and strong support makes all the difference in getting your project up and running smoothly. Let's hope it stays that way but in case of another shortage knowing how to deal with the alternatives may come handy again 🙂 Happy printing!

Hello, thank you for the video. I bought the MKS PI + screen and emmc and nothing works, I plugged it directly into the power supply of the Ender3, and it gave me a short circuit. Have you ever had what kind of problem? How is yours connected? Thank you.
@3D_Printing_Geek

@francksaillard1969 Thanks, for your comment. I used the dedicated +12~24v power connector and wired it to my 3D printers power supply terminals. It's crucial not to mix up the polarity. I think that could cause damage. If you find that you swapped GND and +12~24V then try it the other way. Maybe it will work. At least I know that the BTT-Pi just does nothing when connecting it using the wrong polarity, and works if that's corrected. It's worth a try. Heres an image showing the connector: user-images.githubusercontent.com/12979070/175954568-43ede0db-cca0-4df0-8e14-3bef6976cc05.png If it's still not working I suggest you try to get a replacement from Makerbase. I hope it will work and keep my fingers crossed. Keep me updated, and if you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I would love to install it on my Neptune 3 max but it scares me that i'll break a working printer. I currently run a raspberry pi 4b and octoprint to run my N3max.

It's understandable to feel hesitant about making changes to a working setup, but it's always possible to go back to the original FW. Just make sure you have a copy of it somewhere, just in case 😀

My issues so far are, the default settings are such that I cannot connect to wifi reliably. I'm building another image and if that doesn't clear things up I'm sending this MKS PI back 😅
@3D_Printing_Geek

Yes, the Wi-fi support on the MKS-Pi seems not to be the best. Maybe using an adapter with an antenna improves that. I haven't tried because luckily I have LAN available in my 3d printing space. Did you find a solution for your WiFi problem?

Im trying to connect by uart but having trouble.. would you have some knowledge on that?
@3D_Printing_Geek
@3D_Printing_Geek 9 ай бұрын
@TuzinWu can you provide some more information? What 3D printer do you want to connect to the MKS-Pi? Not every 3D printer supports UART. The Elegoo Neptune 2 for example doesn't.

If I add Klipper, is there a better way to operate it disconnected by running a UI on the Pi instead of a separate computer? That way, I can add a touchscreen and run the printer standalone.
@3D_Printing_Geek
@3D_Printing_Geek 5 ай бұрын
Hi @samernajia. Of course you can operate it standalone. There're touch displays in different sizes available for the Raspberry. How to connect them depends on the specific model. Then you could either have KlipperScreen on the display, or in case you installed a Linux distribution with a desktop environment, make your browser start in kiosk mode and auto load the Mainsail or Fluidd UI on localhost.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmmTqWyEobSAb9k Is there a follow up video? I'm running Artillery Sidewinder X4 Plus that use the MKS-PI as stock. I naively updated everything but now it doesn't work as I need to update the MCU but there is not printer.cfg info for setting it up?

@luxurious1617 Hi there. I have plans to do a general video covering that topic. In the meantime, to get your 3D printer operational again, I suggest resetting it back to the stock firmware. Interestingly one doesn't find the required firmware on their international website, but I found it for you on their German website. There's a flashing tutorial describing the procedure, too. You can download the firmware for your 3D printer, and watch the tutorial following this link: artillery3dprinter.de/pages/kundenservice I hope that helps in the first run 😃

Hi, is it possible to connect it to the Sovol SV06 mainboard?
@3D_Printing_Geek
@3D_Printing_Geek 6 ай бұрын
@Fabiopre Thank you for reaching out! I appreciate your interest in my content! Yes, it is indeed possible to connect it to the Sovol SV06 mainboard. There's a printer configuration printer-sovol-sv06-2022.cfg in the "klipper/config/" folder (there's also one for the Plus) which you can use as a starting point. Or take a look at this GitHub repository github.com/bassamanator/Sovol-SV06-firmware/tree/master which provides ready to go instructions especially for the SV06, as well as links to many useful resources. To connect the SV06 to the MKS Pi (or BTT Pi, Raspberry Pi) you need a USB A to Micro USB cable, or use an USB adapter. Let me know if I could help 🙂

Hi there. Thanks for the comment. There are many possible solutions to run Klipper. Sure one can use an old notebook or laptop, though the power consumption may be much higher than with SBCs. This video has been made to show how the conversion works using the MKS Pi.
