No Release in Bangkob - J Bay

We have another night out on the Kob but this time we harvest the one and only that I will take for the year. Never feel good to kill one of these fish but the Christmas braai beckons and the temptation is too much...
Everyone is entitled to take a fish for a feed as long as you stick to the bag limits and even then, be frugal with your catches, especially at this time of the year when the fish are breeding...just saying!

Awesome video, nice to see you out fishing again and not just surfing vids. Stop being so apologetic for taking a fish or two, you are not the one taking tons, if you do the time on the water, you should be able to enjoy the time around the table as well. Responsible fishing and conservation should be rewarded with a nice fish on the braai. Well done and keep the clips coming, maybe show a catch cook with that lovely kob. Thanks yeah snapper covers a lot of species but these are different to snapper. Snapper more north in the tropics. All good and glad you enjoyed it and commenting 👌

Hey, check out the massive swell that hit up and down the Coast of California from Santa Cruz to San Diego. Mavericks was epic. Santa Cruz lost the end of their Warf/Pier.

The kob look a little like the red drum here in Florida. It is illegal to take anything under 18 inches or over 27 inches. They call them the slot reds.seems like the red drum numbers are healthy, so these limits seem to work well in our waters.

Not the same species but similar for sure. This species is the same as the Auzzie Malloway. Unfortunately our numbers are dwindling so more needs to be done..

The water is 23degrees of Port Alfred. Not much birds working but the temperature is very high inshore.
