Lekka Trevor , so nice to watch you release those Cob. As you say , its Crazy that Commercial boats can Plunder the Kob and kill Tons and Tons of them And Anglers from the side may only Keep one Cob , Really Really Crazy !!!! Just a Correction Trevor , Cob do not Spawn in Rivers they Spawn in the Ocean places like Bays and slightly protected areas. The Baby Cobbies then enter Estuaries where they remain for a few years to grow bigger then they go back to the Sea . Thanks for the lekka Video .

Ya never understood our regulations.. so backwards for rock and surf anglers.. Commercial and "Substance Fishermen" rape and Pillage This is why when guys do find the fish from the side, they often take more than quoter

There are two species and the one spawns in rivers.. Either way we should not catch them at this time.. Wasnt going to get technical as its breeding time all round.. Recreational fisherman do serious damage as well...especially the assholes selling their catches. I see and hear of it here all the time. They even go around bragging about it.. Think it should be closed for release only.. Period.

Thank you for highlighting the disgrace that is the commercial fishing industry.
@oceanadventures36510 күн бұрын
Dont blame the commercials blame the regulations and the implementation of the regs. Recreational fisherman do the same by taking more than allowed and sell their catches... They should ban all catches during spawning periods totally. Release only..
@theBORGman10 күн бұрын
@@oceanadventures365 Agree. That is a much more nuanced view. One thing that pisses me off (with kreef and commercials) is that they have a smaller size allowance, a much longer season, and if they don't hit quota, they lobby to extend their season. That is barking mad! What does missing quota tell you? That there are not enough stocks. Regulation should then cut the quota and open season even harder. We are a species on a murder-suicide mission.

@@oceanadventures365 I was at Kalk Bay looking at these nearly gold-fished sized hottentot. The few strings of fish on display had none bigger than my hand! I said to the fisherman, "why are you now taking the juveniles." "Nay, my-laarnie... these are hotnotsvis. It's how big they get." "Yeah, I know what species they are and these are juveniles. They should be ...." and I showed him with my hands... kinda 1 to 2kg size. "Nay. You doknow wot u takinabout." I explained that for his own livelihood he should hold back on wiping out the stock Of course, I was then called a racist. I give up.

That grunting the Cob makes reminds me of our Black Drum on the Texas Gulf Coast. They even look similar. Great video and like your boat. What is the make & model if you don’t mind me asking?

There are a few species lije sea bass and drum that are similar. Great fighters and good fun to catch. My zodiac is a very old stingray 4.3m that I have had for 30 years and have just re tubed to make new again... Glad you enjoyed it 😁

It is so frustrating and saddening: but there is just 2 types of fishermen I have learned, and trying to motivate some ous to release, is a waste of time at best and can even result in arguments and being sworn at if you even motivate for release fishing on some chats so what can you do? I guess stick to your principals as you do and be the best version of yourself you can be by releasing these beautiful fish - well done bru, a lot of guys would need to take those fish home to feel validated. Well done bru lekker fishing!
@oceanadventures3659 күн бұрын
Thanks and yes its a learning process. I do capture for the pot sometimes but honestly feel bad about it... Next episode I take the only kob of the year.. As long as its allowed and not policed it will continue..
@mezaman67109 күн бұрын
@@oceanadventures365 Yah thats the balance, for sure keep some fish - there is take home quotas allowed for a reason I respect that opinion on various chats - but to hear of the slaughter of breading fish in those numbers and all of the other shenanigans that go on up and down our coast - well that where principals play a vital role.. shot for the awesome content bru!! Looking forward to seeing that next Ep.

Insane video. Trevor, I'm originally from California, and I think that species of fish, you call Cobb, we call "White Sea Bass" is that correct? I'm probably wrong. Also, are you going to make a trip to that underwater sea mount this year. That video with the King Tuna last year was amazing. Take care!!!
@oceanadventures36510 күн бұрын
Many thanks they the same as the Auzzie Malloway. Not Sea Bass but very similar... Hope to get back to Mt Vema one day.. Special place and I know it now😁

Cob season is in breeding season thats the sad part, only way to help curb the prob is to close the season for them like we do with shad. Allot wont care but it will help save some breeding individuals
