Skip ahead to the 7:45 mark to just see the eclipse footage and skip my garden tour I made while waiting for the eclipse.
Check out a little behind the scenes of a beautiful day in Central Arkansas where we got to experience the 2024 total eclipse! So lucky to live in the path of totality and get a chance to experience Gods art!

Your little cheepers with maby a toad or two should reduce the population of bugs nearby and garden areas. I was always surprised at how much toads looked like a clump of dirt whilst picking strawberries in unca Hank and aunt Annie's garden patch. I was also surprised at how quiet the birds got during an eclipse (Michiana area), some years ago, past everyone's yard was farm fields.

So nice to see a glimpse of your homelife.Loved seeing your mantis sitting waiting to come alive and make quick work of your garden beds. My Dad had every garden tool known to man ( motored and non-motored ) as i grew up but he never had a mantis but when i got my first little home that was the 1st purchase i made ( Dad tried to "borrow" it , which didn't happen. )😊 Mantis still going strong today from the late 80's. Thank you for ALL YOU TEACH Bre.

FYI If you plant Basil in with your tomatoes, they will help keep away Tomato Horn worm (the green catipillar looking things that damage tomatoes). I have Catnip guarding my tomatoes too and I think that might help too, but traditionally, basil is known to work against hornworm.

Thanks! I've got about 8 baby basil plants I grew from seed going in with them. I keep a black light, flash light so I can see them glow in the dark and catch the horn worms when they are babies.

When you plant the banana trees, toss some nails, bolts, nuts, any iron that you can afford to scrap. Do it in layers; iron, dirt, iron, dirt and then healthy dose of dirt and fertilizer and ozmocote and plant the tree. I have successfully grown them in Illinois, and it does get good and crappy cold here. Are they as good as South? Nah. But they will produce. The iron makes them nice and strong and helps withstand the cold some. 👍

I'm lucky enough to live in the "Crossroads of the Eclipses" here in Southern Illinois. 7 years ago, we had a little over two minutes, and today we had right at 4 minutes. Where the two paths crossed is ~ 20 miles SW of here, and, oddly enough, was the same point as the point of longest duration of the last one. I'm sure there is some mathematical explanation as to how that happened, but I would still think it would be long odds. The center line of the last one was maybe 10 miles south of here, but this one was pretty much right over us. We had some high thin clouds, but during totality, most of those were even gone, and it was as spectacular as I remember from the last one. Definitely among the coolest things I've ever seen.

Hey I was in Russelville for the Eclipse, it was fantastic, except the trip home. I have never spent 4 hours on a 5.5 hour drive only to have 5.5 hours left. WHAT A TRAFFIC JAM. Friendly folks though. We would pull off to get food or bathroom breaks and everyone was laughing, taking it in stride. AND you got a photo of the eclipse with the planet Venus next to it. We had high scatter of clouds so there was still too much ambient light to see Jupiter, Mars or Saturn.

I too live in the path of totality. It happened at 3:07pm eastern and it was partly cloudy when it happened. Earlier it was 100% cloudy and raining and we thought we would miss out. The pictures I took of the eclipse were that somewhat grainy orange tinted picture due to the eclipse glasses which did quite well for watching the eclipse when not taking photos.

I watched it from the Mena airport. Over 100 aircraft landed here to watch it. Jets to little guys. Everything in between. When the total was able to see it was wild. It was a truely religious experience for me. There is nothing that mankind can do to top that! Celestial bodies doing their thing. Save the planet by going "green"? Good luck. No matter what we do this planet will be just fine.
