Lol, glad I could inadvertently help. Also, nice sticks. Probably the best you can do on Zen3 besides tuning some Samsung B die for crazy tight timings. But that stuff takes some time to dial in, and don't get me started on DDR5. That stuff's way more annoying to tune.

okay, but why am i dropping as low as 60fps @4k everything maxed out on my 4090 with a 7800x3d and 32gb of corsair 6000mhz ddr5 ram? im sure dlss will sort things out but nonetheless im expecting a flat 120 on this kind of system. its a cute game but its no cyberpunk, which is running way better.

Mine was reset too! Aorus motherboard with the same CPU as yours, but I'm running a Nvidia RTX3090. After fixing my RAM speed I'm now running 1440p 85fps+, some zones 110+, only dipping to 60ish when moving through the town entrances. Thanks for making this update video and thanks to @Greez1337 for pointing it out. Hopefully the devs can continue to optimize and fix some of the micro stuttering on load-ins, but this definitely helps.

Khan, dude, wtf, i had the same issue with the game, i've booted up the bios and i had THE SAME PROBLEM, I clocked up the ram and now is buttery smooth (i have a 2070S). Thank you so much for this video :O

You can turn on your frame gen in the radeon software. Runs at 150-160 fps at 1440p max settings. (6950xt- 5800x3D)

I was surprised too because hearing your build was similar to mine and I was mostly hitting 60 surprised me but hearing it's RAM I'm not surprised I've had blackouts do that to me too and it's annoying

After the update they released yesterday performance is significantly better for me. I have a ryzen 7700x and a 4070 ti super. I've been playing at 2k, best quality, 80 fps and it's been fairly stable with just a few frame drops every now and then.

Since the devs are watching your videos, I wish you'd called out the current state of the stealth mechanics in this game😅 I guess that's not so much your playstyle, so I wasn't too surprised to not see it called out in your first impressions, but if you do a full review, it would be lovely to have you touch on that. I was super excited to see stealth mechanics in a soulslike ARPG, but things like the zoomed in fixed perspective vs enemy vision range, as well as the (current...maybe it's yet to be implemented during EA?) lack of a "suspicious/investigating" state for enemies make it an absolute pain (and often just flat out impossible) to try and be stealthy. Which is odd to me considering there's a dedicated key for it and it gets called out twice during the tutorial/early game by prompts. Anyways, enough ranting. Love your videos as always. Might not (yet) follow your NRFTW streams because I don't want to spoil myself, but will catch up on them when I've seen most of the story content myself! Take care!

If you're having problems with blackouts, you might look into getting a uninterruptible power supply (or back-ups). Its basically a big battery that will give to time to properly shut down your computers if there is an outage.

Damn I have pretty much the same rig as Rurikhan and have been having huge headaches running games lately. I've tried everything to do with my GPU for months so if it turns out to be a ram issue I will be both relieved and frustrated. I love having a powerful PC but they are a pain in the butt sometimes for sure.

Turns out my ram was also at 2100mhz and I increased to it's native 3200mhz and the game is running at a smooth 60 fps at 1440p. Thank you for this information really helped my performance greatly.

DD2 was way worse. It's impossible to be GPU bound in towns, even with raytracing at 4K with a crappy GPU.

The difference is that these issues can be easily resolved by either tuning down the resolution or the graphic settings Dragons Dogma II on the other hand, you can do nothing at all. Even on lowest settings the game will, due to the way it renders ALL NPCs at the same time, completely kill itself when you look in the wrong direction. You might have a CPU that is expensive enough so the problems are more manageable but everyone with less than a top tier CPU can be exited to constantly vary between 25 and 60 fps depending on the direction they are looking at

I can't say for certain given I still haven't bought the game, but the game might be struggling on loading a new zone when you leave the hub. A lot of games have traversal stutters like that when you leave the chunk you are in and it has to rapidly fetch data Likely it will never be a problem in combat where you actually need fluidity, but it's also good info to have

I have multiple instances where going out of the main sacrement the outer area is 0% loaded so I can see the skymap, everything below me, I am walking on invisible plane. :D

I have an Ryzen 7 7800x3D, RT 7900 XTX and 32 GB DDR5 6000. The game drops into the 60 or even lower in town or when i travel the world in a faster pace. Iam playing in 1440p with the "quality" preset, not even the "best quality". I love No Rest for the Wicked, i really love it so much. But the inconsistant performance is really a let down.

Odds are there's more latency improvements to be had because of the way AMD runs the memory controller on Zen CPUs. Up until DDR4-3600 the memory controller, infinity fabric, and memory run at the same clock speeds. Above 1800 MHz (DDR-3600) the memory controller is often unstable on Ryzen 5000 CPUs so they default to a lower clock speed, letting you get the high bandwidth but making latency a bit worse. You can use something like HWiNFO64 to check Infinity Fabric Clock and Memory Controller Clock. If they both default to 2000 MHz already and the system isn't unstable you can ignore the rest of my comment. You could try manually setting the memory controller/infinity fabric to 2000 MHz, but there's a decent chance that's unstable. You could also try setting the memory to DDR4-3600, and maybe adjusting the primary timings down to something like 16-16-16-36. Those are the same timings as they use for their DDR4-3600 kits using Samsung memory chips so they're probably stable without any additional tinkering. Just setting the memory to DDR4-3600 should improve latency a bit, so depending on if the game is latency sensitive or bandwidth sensitive it might be a further improvement for you. Usually games are latency sensitive so it should help in other games as well.

I think we've hit a point in hardware where games that are unoptimized and poorly developed can still hit 45 -60 for on high end systems which are always used by reviewers. This means companies don't have to actually care about how their software or game is created anymore as our hardware is able to pick up the slack now. Better hardware = more lazy game development

I think it's a case of laziness and greed being rewarded time and time again. If games come out unoptimized over and over and people still buy it, pre-order from these same companies and possibly defend them due to lobotomized tribalism, then games will continue being released this way. Why spend money and time optimizing a product when you can release it, get paid and fix it later (or not at all on occasion).

Careful. A lot of people over spend on their RAM buy getting 6000+ MHz ram when 4800MHz would be just fine. Also faster RAM can be more unstable. I downgraded my 6800MHz RAM because it was unstable.

Sub 6400mhz DDR5 with some decently tightened timings is not much of an uograde latency wise to DDR4 mid range stuff. 4000C19 probably works fine. Timings loosened should be stable.

With rog laptop, cpu 5900hx and rtx 3080, the game is practically unplayable at 1080, quality performance, scaling 50% no vsync. Aftwr the initilal ship level, most of the time the game is between 24 and 45 fps, extremely unstable.

My specs are 16Gb at 3200mhz (I am not completly sure, i will come back to that), a 1070oc (8Gigs - Overclocked Naturally) and an old i5 7500 proc. The game is a mess for me and i run it at 1600x900 rez. It is playable most of time - ish, but the loadings are problematic and when the fps drop down, well they drop around 10-20 for 3-4 seconds. :( I wish I would have refunded... Buuuut 2 hours + played on Steam.

If you’re utilizing dynamic resolution in any capacity - you aren’t playing at your native resolution (a majority of the time). The scaling occurs to achieve your minimum framerate setting. So, in a poorly optimized game, it’s happening often. I would also disable any upscalers (if this game shipped with them), and try playing natively to adequately test performance.

Look. I know the advantages of PC gaming... But the headache that comes with it imo is just not worth it. I'll just play on PS5 and be done with it. I think after dealing with this so much, you kinda lose the perspective of how much of a hassle it is. I get it... I went deep into Skyrim modding once. But PC gaming is just not for me anymore.
