Nice catch, i once found a spinner in a tree (maybe a size 4) I ended up hooking it and it unfortunately fell in the water! At least I'm not the only fishing for lures in trees lol!

+WorldWide Fishing I reckoned this one to fall down as well , ..but the spot below that branch is only 1 1/2 feet deep and one can see the bottom , when the sun is shining , ..I could have salvaged it from there either !Maybe one should carry a recovery magnet , .....at least on such freshly fallen lures the hook is still there , not rotten away , .....and magnetic !!!!But would I really skip carrying a couple of lures along to make up for the added weight of such magnet , ......guess , I won't(LOL) .Best regards , Dieter

+Chalkbalone Sometimes it works out , ....but now there are strange ideas about lure-in-tree recovery slingbows or crossbows spinning through my mind(LOL) . Best greetings , Dieter

That gave me an idea. Maybe if you tied a strong magnet to the end of you line you could fish it on the bottom and try to magnetically grab lures. :)

+WorldWide Fishing Thought about such as well ,......even have a recovery magnet , but never tried such . The problem is , that on a lure it's most likely only the hooks and(non-stainless , stainless steel is not or only little magnetic)splitrings , that are magnetic , ......relatively small surfaces for a magnet to find grip on , .....and also these parts are the ones to rust away after a given time underwater .And even if the hooks are still in a good shape , the magnet won't generate sufficient pull force to free a lure from a possible snag , .......just because of the previously mentioned small grip surface !Nowadays there are a lot of cheapo lures around consisting of plated , but corrosive steel , ...not brass , ....these are magnetic , but I surely do not want to see such lures after having been exposed to the elements for a longer period of time !Greetings , Dieter

+Paul Andrews Thanks a lot , ......the day after that event shown I've even utilized one of my slingshots to drop a hung up float from an overhanging tree and finally picked it from the water's surface after it had fallen , ....never would have thought , that simple pebbles , shot with a slinghot , could cut off monofilament fishing line that easily , ....sadly this method would only work when trying to salvage floating tackle , LOL .
