They were a pain in the arse used in scrap erfs...... and pointless when a range change or similar did a better job 😂

A real drivers truck. No auto boxes back then. I had a D plate 142 Scania hauling tippers back in 1993.

Drove a ex Rennie Hogg (RH Freight) 3 series Scania 360 (back tag axle) on a push out trailer running waste out of London to landfill back in the early 90,s, RH did continental work and my truck had been to the moon and back 10 times, Clocked plenty of km,s but very reliable, After that the gaffer bought me a 3 series 450 V8 (back tag axle) on the same work mid 90,s 4 over 4 with a splitter, Great truck👍

Hi shannon an dane well shannon this is real deal no auto or semi boxeses hear . I must admit you need a couple of hours to get it totally proficient. I used to drive very similar truck when i was on tanker work many years ago its sounds so sweet and it pulls well going down road glad you enjoyed driving it but it can really separate the newer truckers like yourself as its now so easy doing a shift now adays. Had a smile on my face when you said i cant get it over am trying in to 6th This truck sounds so good and runs so well aye these were the days thay made great trucks shannon at beginning you were all over the place but good on you for doing it you were getting the hand of the gearbox

lucky lady to have an opportunity like that not jealous at all! the old mechanical engines have their own special character to them. didn't realize at the time but was parked behind you at shepton mallet with my Diamond T 980. 1942 truck with a 50's Rolls Royce C6 and twin sticks. keep up the good work and great to see so much enthusiasm, honestly think you would really enjoy a manual R series. best regards Sam

Hi there from Mesquite, Nevada USA. I'm a new guy here and truly enjoy your content, humor and personality. I'm a retired pilot as well as a retired truck driver. (Long story there) I drove 379 Peterbilts while driving trucks. They had 550 HP Cummins engines with 18 speed manual transmissions. I hauled an oversized set of trailers, a 48 foot and a 28 foot behind that totaling with truck 100 feet long and weighing 112,000 lbs. Shifting was no problem once you learn to use the clutch only to start and stop, however backing up or as you say reversing was next to impossible. Hi, I'm in Pahrump, formerly Las Vegas, prior to that Edinburgh Scotland. Been driving gas tankers since 2000 here in the US. Used to drive all kinds of Scania including the 142, great trucks for real drivers not these newbies that can only drive automatic

the scania 142 has the same engine as the 140 141 and 143 it is a 14 liter v 8 engine yours is a 16 liter engine the old engine sounds better than the new one but that is my opinion are you going too drive more oldschool trucks i would like that shannon

The firm i drove for had 4 Scania 143s strait off the Phil Collins tour in the 90s they were ok but not that comfortable we had them for 3 months then had new Iveco Turbostars after they were a good truck.

Just saw the title "it's got a gear stick" Well guess I grew up on farming and when I started driving hgvs, most had sticks. Nowadays....all the young ones haven't a fucking clue...... You lot aren't drivers your now pointers. I do miss my stick lorrys.

First off it’s called *click bait* secondly I first ‘car’ was a defender 90 with get this… a gear stick, thirdly my first HGV which I had for the first 5 years was a manual Last but not least…. Technology moves on.. they use to plow fields with horses now they have tractors with gps 🤯
