That's cause compared to anything America truck manufacturers are making it looks like it's from the future, look at how they don't need all those ridiculous emissions controls cause what they have on is like two generations of emissions ahead. America should remove these import restrictions for such vehicles such as tractor heads, competition is good for Innovation, the reason why Americans don't get these cool features is cause the manufacturers know they will not be facing any competition cause they have the monopoly on the truck market as opposed to Europe where even the Chinese and Japanese are competing with the European manufacturers thus keeping everyone honest. The euro trucks are just ahead on technology that's just a fact cause they have to deal with all types of terrain from mountainous roads to twisty and winding roads to heavy loads in different countries some trucks in Finland and Sweden do 80 to 120 tonnes and that's where these 700 HP+ trucks excel.

@b-trucker7717 Scania has looks, definitely has power, has longevity, and is much safer than you think. Also, the Volvo FH6 just got launched in Europe, and it has 780HP from the factory. Scania will probably try to match that with their next truck series release. CAT motors are definitely not the best available engines when you look on the global market. The only thing holding the US market back is its refusal of the metric system and the consequence of thus needing tools with fractions. To each their own, but I think the Englishman who has lived and worked abroad for roughly 20 years is certainly less stubborn and set in his ways than you who is only speaking from prejudice instead of experience.

I am very glad you said that. I was going to until I found your comment. I do agree. He does act like Scanias are the greatest things in the trucking industry since sliced bread, and then he wants to "Americanize" this one. WTF! Watching him with his Scanias and when he goes to Europe, and seeing how giddy he gets over them, reminds of a kid in a candy shop. I have said all along that if Scanias impress him that much, he should just pack up and move to Europe. Then he will be around Scanias all day, every day. But, here's the thing. Everything he gets into, he gets tired of. He built the truck he named the "Tratter Taxi", and when he grew tired of it, he sold it. The same with the Freightliner he called "Blue Collar". He no longer has the pull truck he was crazy about as well as all the Dodges he fooled with. He was in seventh heaven over the Ram he had until he decided to trade it off for the General Motors truck he has now. And I believe I heard him make a negative comment about it recently. It will probably be gone soon. And lastly, there is "Brutus". He speced it as a heavy hauler, and even added a third axle himself to do so, and then ordered that Globe RGN 70 tonner for heavy hauling that he waited a long time to take delivery of, and I don't believe the whole unit has ever left the yard with a heavy haul. As a matter of fact, it has hardly left the yard at all.

Brand Ambassador’s are allowed to read the manual. You have million people in the audience listening. Coming prepped is not wrong. Most of that seemed to be now on it’s way to get fixed, great to hear. IMHO It is also better to come without trailer and say that you had missing piece of puzzle and you want to do it properly. Rather than make modifications in hurry to meet some arbitrary deadline. It is very common this deadline thinking in USA, whether it is Teutul’s building bikes in anger or youtubers building cars for SEMA. None of those work in real life, because they were hurried, done without proper sleep and mistakes were made. I think most people there are just interested to see the truck, from fifth wheel backwards it is just the same that they are common regardless. My dad was a UK truck driver who drove Scania trucks (or "lorries" as we usually call them on this side of the pond) for most of his working life. As a kid, I occasionally had the chance to go away with him in the lorry for a day or two, travelling from Scotland, to various places around England, which usually meant one or two nights stay in the sleeper cab, which had a fold down top bunk bed. My dad loved his Scanias and would have been really proud watching you American truckers react so enthusiastically about the big V8 Scania! Okay having made manuals, not for trucks but for specialized equipment, I can tell you that people don't read the manual. That's why I made quick guides for all products, usually using nice little doodles instead of text people won't read. And it's not limited to truckers or low-wage workers, people simply don't read the manual when they get new equipments, especially when they believe they already know how the equipment works. Nobody reads the manual of their new car, they just turn the key and drive around. Yes, it isn't optimal. But it's also something you have to contend with IRL. Best way is have someone at the company read the manual, then have them take the other personnel around to explain what does what. And a quick guide for the main functions, but if it's over 1 page it won't be used.

Hi all. I’m a 52 year old Englishman. I’ve been watching some of the videos from you American truckers and am amazed at just how far behind the American truck technology really is. I think you’re probably closer to 30 years behind. I first started driving class 1 HGV in the UK 30 years ago and was using English trucks such as ERF and Foden that had Eaton gearboxes that were driven much like the trucks that are still being produced by the American companies today. While I do miss those trucks the trucks we have now in Europe are far more technologically advanced from the 90’s. Auto gearboxes which are very effective and efficient. Air ride from front to back with air ride cabs. Not to mention the difference in the power of the Euro trucks compared to our American counterparts. I’m just surprised that time seems to have stood still in the Research and Development departments of the great American truck manufacturers. AND FOR THE RECORD……. I do love American trucks. I’m a trucker and love trucks of all kinds. So much it drives the wife nuts! Happy New Year to you all!

I’ve read the manual on every car I’ve owned. I’ve learned a little something from each. There are so many little things on newer cars that old cars never had. When you are talking about a truck that is about 10 years ahead of anything in the states, and one that almost no one in the states is familiar with. Swallow your pride and read the manual. You may find something you are doing wrong that will shorten the life of your truck, or holding it back from its true potential.

In hard crash european trucks have floating cab that can separate and continue traveling on extreme hard ”brick wall” type of impact. So the cab is mounted on rubber and does continue as separate unit in those situations and the curtain airbags keep owner safe and driver will not have to endure deadly G-forces, because bolts are tested to shear before that and let the cab kinda fly and land on it’s own few meters longer than where the truck front impacted.

In Sweden we use that truck with a maximum allowed weight of 159.000 pounds. I have myself run a truck transporting booze with 67 euro pallets exceeding 160.000 pounds. Then you need the v8. And then we have very snowy roads in the winter in the northern part of Sweden. Then it’s good to have the tandem drive as well. Just saying; Driving the newer Scanias is more like driving a nice BMW than a truck. … and everything that you need is exactly where you find it. Increadible! In Sweden we can have trucks up to 34 meters but still limited to 160.000 pounds.
