No-Sew Crochet Mushroom Jewelry Holder/Trinket Dish Tutorial

I saw these crochet mushroom jewelry holders on Pinterest and thought they were so fun and useful! They're great for holding rings, necklaces, and earrings and are also a cute home decoration.
Materials:
Big Twist Cotton Yarn in "Sage" and "White" and Just Cotton Yarn in "Dusty Rose":
- Weight: Medium (4)
- Fiber: 85% Cotton, 15% Polyester
- Approximate total length: 87.5 yd / 80 m
- Approximate total weight: 1.75 oz / 50g
4.0 mm Clover Amour Crochet Hook: amzn.to/3noE9mz
Yarn Needle: amzn.to/3CuwV8A
Scissors: amzn.to/43G61Xb
Stuffing
Gauge:
14 sc - 16 rows = 4 in / 10 cm
Project Level:
This is a good project for more advanced beginners. It uses one stitch throughout the whole project and does not include sewing, but it does use shaping techniques (increasing and decreasing).
Stitches:
Slip Knot (sk)
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Double Crochet (dc)
Tips:
- Tighten your slip stitches to make the seam smaller and less visible
- The chain 2 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a double crochet
- Pull your loose ends to the inside of the mushroom to hide them

i made 4 of these and freehanded 2 of them. the extra stitches here and there, as well as switching stitches, just makes the mushroom more "organic" looking. the base is quite floppy and after making one with single crochet (way too much work tbh), i found doubling my yarn (or use the next weight up, go up in hook size according) and following the pattern exactly worked out the best. when starting the stem, just do 12 increases in the first round of the dish instead of 24 regular doubles in the second round. this way the base is a lot sturdier and you got more room for rings!

When doing the first ring, did you mean to say magic ring instead of slip stitch as you said to pull the tail to tighten which only happens with magic rings and not when you chain. Just a small thing but loves the outcome of the actual project

Strange. When I began crocheting the stem I ended up with 25 double crochets, are you skipping the chain? I’m pretty sure I had all the correct stitches when I was crocheting the green part.

What if the rim of my dish (the bottom part) doesn't hold up high enough, do I do another round with 2 double crochets into every 10th stitch? I might need sturdier yarn

You can try removing an increase from that round! If that’s still not enough, try removing another one and another one. If you want to make it another round instead, you would do 2 double crochets into every 11th stitch

You just need to get rid of a couple rows from the stem, as long as you have 12 st by the end

@@ArtistMaker.no if you look closely you can see that theres an entirely different stitch used for the blue mushroom. Pretty sure its single crochet and it also uses a different pattern overall because i tried recreating it with this one and it didnt turn out like that. You can even see just by counting rows that the blue one has a lot more than the red one.
