Just a quick tip.. Heat degrades batteries and many other things. If you pop open the hood of your vehicle after driving it, the heat under the hood (heat soak) will ventilate out and that will keep the temperature under the hood about 40F to 50F cooler. There's a lot of expensive components under the hood (computers, alternators, belts hoses, plastic components, battery, etc). The cooler temps will prolong their lifespan. Just be sure and close the hood before driving (some cars will warn you that hood/door is ajar). Have fun out there!

BUT I watched this almost 30 minutes after u posted, and with only 2 or 3 comments on the board I got excited because I hoped I could absorb more info 😮 I'm still smh. Keep posting honey. U r going to places I camped near as a child. The memories of those places come alive through your videos. I am 65 and would love to join the van lifers!! I want to show my kids places where I have been. Money is so tight with everyone, but hopefully soon we can do this!! Luv u girl!!

Cigarette lighter charging gets you about 100watts per hour. Ecoflow 800watt alternator charger gets you upto 800 watts per hour. Only for Ecoflow Delta 2 series and Delta Pro and Delta Max 2000. ( but also allows reverse charging and trickle charging, cost is $599 unless a bundle deal ) Pecron 500watt car charger gets you upto 500watts per hour. Works on pretty much all power stations. ($149 but sometimes on sale) Victron 400w DC-DC converter gets you upto 400watts per hour. Works on pretty much all power stations. ($220 approx) These work by sending excess alternator power in through the solar charge controller (mppt). Essentially disguised as solar power input. One concern would be drawing too much power from an alternator that can't handle it. Most newer SUVs and trucks have heavy duty alternators.

If you have a different power station pick up pecrons alternator charger it works on any power station. Downside it gives 500 watts compared to 800 watts. Plus its 150 bucks compared to 600 bucks. Either way I don't think you can go wrong. Bluetti has one these things now as well like ecoflow it only works with their products. The apple game unfortunately.

After hearing about everyone's issues with the larger power stations, the next one I buy will be the 1200 watts Egretech power station I already have one and can run my ten qt fridge on it for three days. This station is just as good as these high dollar ones, and the lpo4 battery in it takes less than two hours to charge. Plus I bought a 200 watt solar panel foldable kind, only cause that is the most this power station can handle. This is the best value for my money.

I have an RV and I built an entire power system for it without separate batteries, solar panel, charge controllers, etc. Works fantastic and I can take it out of the RV if I need them elsewhere.

Dc to DC charger is a good option. But Ecoflows battery capacity sucks. Also time your Ecoflows discharge timer with a watch. See how inaccurate it becomes below 25% battery capacity. One minute on your watch is 2+ minutes on the Ecoflow.

Glad to see the DC charging is working out so well for you! Since I'm also heading for this capability, I do have a question about it. As you probably understand, not only the battery needs protection from being drawn down -- the alternator itself can be damaged by overheating if too much current is demanded from it. So, is there a minimum amperage rating of alternator for a given recharge load -- and can protection from alternator damage be obtained even with a smaller alternator by capping maximum demand? Thanks!
@BrookeandPippa
@BrookeandPippa 8 ай бұрын
You could look up the specifics of the alternator you have and in the app you can actually set the wattage it pulls lower than 800w if you’re concerned about the health of the alternator. It also never goes above 800w and is for a very short (relative) time period when it’s pulling the maximum amount. I rarely see it staying at 800w when I’m tracking it on the app. It does a good job self regulating

Can I use a standalone battery instead of car battery as a power source? in other words have alternator charger go from standalone 12V battery ( house battery) to Delta 2? And charge Delta 2 that way? So house battery charges Delta 2 and Delta 2 charges things like coffee maker and fridge. I have a smart charger that will charge house battery with shore power when needed. TYI Joel
