It's just amazing, great, beautiful and wonderful. You took me to the heaven. It's so calm, peaceful and serene. Norway is my dream country, the country of midnight sun. You showed me the white nights of summer. Now, I would like to see the black days of the winter also. 🌈😇🙏🙋

Wow! Thanks for sharing this beautiful video. You traced every step I took (except the Sherpa Steps) in March 2022; it's like you provided me the Summer version of my Winter trip. Though there were dark nights, I did not see any auroras because of weather conditions. However, the Magic was, in the two weeks there, I witnessed more bright sunny days after evening snow storms! I truly felt in the Arctic seeing the mountains covered in brilliant fresh snow across from Telegrafbukta and from up on the mountain above the city. You also showed the "speed ferry" we took for an over-night stay in Harstad to see the Trondenes Historical Museum. I'll be back, and your video is bookmarked for encouragement. Tussen takk!

It looks like in Tromso that despite the midnight sun, there's still enough movement of the sun in the sky to give some kind of day/night cues. So it'd be an adjustment to live there for many, but not as jarring as Longyearbyen or Alert, Nunavut, Canada. What's also cool about Tromso is that despite it being in the Arctic and having midnight sun in May, June, and July and a little polar night in November, December, and January, it actually has a temperate climate, a kind of "continental maritime climate" or "cool summer four-season climate". And then there's mountains where a little snow still remains deep into summer. On a side note, I'd be one of the few people okay without blackout curtains for sleeping since I have a weird sleep disorder that causes my body to not take natural day/night cues. So I can sleep almost as easily at noon with sunlight pouring into my window as I can at midnight in total darkness.

No sun for two months either. November-January. Longer if there's a mountain in the way. In my army camp there was a mountain in the way, so it was totally dark for four months. The sky sort of glowed a little bit over the obstructing mountain for a while after the "sun had returned", and then it went dark again.

@@billyb5057 I was about 190 Km to the south of where Tromsø is in the mountains there. Lots of rain and lots of mosquitoes in summer, Cold AF (-41C was the coldest around Christmas) and lots of snow in winter. The climate on the coast is a little more reasonable, which is why most people live there. Anyway, Tromsø is the farthest north I've been. We went to a Prodigy concert there when we had a weekend off from army stuff. Long ago now, but a rather unforgettable year of military conscription in Norway. As a southern city boy it was sort of rough.

I know it is a weird question, but do you have a lot of mosquitos in this summertime, because you live next to the sea?
@jarls5890
@jarls5890 2 жыл бұрын
Mosquitos do not breed in the sea. They need stagnant fresh water. Small ponds, marshes and such. Any place with stationary fresh water (also rain water). The wind from the sea is also something the mosquitos do not like. So not that many mosquitos near the sea shore. Inland - away from the coast - on the other hand.....
@politicallycorrectredskin796
@politicallycorrectredskin796 2 жыл бұрын
The other way round. Inland you have just billions and billions of them, but not on the coast because of the wind. They also can't lay eggs in salt water. Probably not the only reason since there's also fishing and milder weather. but the mosquitoes are at least a reason almost all northern Norwegians live on the coast. I was in the army up there inland, and boy was that a miserable 12 months. Endless mosquitoes and endless sun in the summer, total darkness and -30-40 degree weather in winter. It doesn't get too cold by the ocean either because of the Gulf Stream. But just a few miles inland and it turns into Siberia.
