Tau don't, Tau fanboys do. Because they apparently never heard about War in Heaven, orks, about dark eldar being "normal" eldar culture and all the other bs. They think humans killed all other aliens. There weren't any since Silent King sold his people to C'Tan. Humanity only survived because Emperor and shard of Void Dragon shielded it during early stages of civilization and Tau were literally protected by artificial warp storm until they were ready. And yet necrons and eldar(and orks) get none of the flak the Imperium does

And that's the reminder that even if for some individual guardsmen, the Tau might seem the better option, they're still not exactly saints, and there's a reason the Imperium has such hostility to xenos when the reasonable ones who don't want to eat you or worse are the exception.

Humanity during the Golden\Dark Age of Technology made peace treaties with Orkz of all people, allowing them to continue their existence of unending warfare undisturbed, unless actively provoked, yet even then we were pretty chill about It. We legit had the Orkz at gunpoint and had a pretty good shot at ending their entire species, yet we chose not to fire It, a mistake that plagues humanity even 15 000+ years later. A mistake, that the Imperium of Man is determined to never repeat again.

@@nikogarcia201 I mean in general, the humans will just make quick use of a lasgun or a bolter, not eat you or do whatever the Dark Eldar/Drukharil would like to do. Also, as any servitor will testify, you have to commit an actual crime (or at least tick the wrong person off) before taking a knife to the brain. The Tau have the process of removing whatever brain meat prevents them from being loyal to their "ethereals" as common practice.

No. It's actually worse. Kroot will eat their victims alive.

Kroot can absorb genetics from creatures they eat. (they might even be able to absorb memories, but don't quote me on that) The kroot consider it to be honoring a worthy foe, they will "live on" as part of the Kroot genome, which in kroot religion is essentially like reincarnation, so to speak. They view genetics the same way we think of a "soul" essentially.

of course, this "honor" is little comfort to those being eaten. That said, the Kroot don't *specifically* eat beings that are still alive, I'd imagine they'd be fine eating something that it incapacitated, but they don't go out of their way to eat things while they're still alive, I'd imagine they'd prefer dead if for no other reason than the dead don't struggle and can't attack them mid-meal. Doubly so since the Kroot shapers (their religious, political, and military leaders) make the choice of what to eat in order to manage the gene pool. Kroot actually need to eat sapient life because if they subsist entirely on non-sapient meat they devolve into sub-sapient animals (Kroot who end up like that are used as war beasts, I don't know if it's been said how they are treated out of combat, but I imagine it'd be like a pet.)

examples of Kroot devolved forms: Krootox (they essentially are to Kroot what a silverback Gorilla is to a human, Kroot ride them into battle. Kroot hounds: bird doggos, ate too much quadrupedal predators Knarloc: Kroot that ate too much megafauna and turned into T-rexes
