The biggest enemy for the imperium is its self if you need any more proof look at humans that turn to chaos in the imperium verse those in the tau. Humans in the imperium get corrupt too easily thanks to the conditions of the imperium.

The commissar betrayed her first by killing the man she loved. The imperiums greatest enemy is its self. Stuck fighting for faith yet end up losing humanity treating people as nothing more than cannon fodder. Only a few space marine chapters truly are human and understand this that human lives are what truly makes the imperium not killing them mercilessly.

Commissar is a shitty job but it is a necessary one if you want the guard to hold the line. And if you want to understand the reality of the Imperium, cease to see human life as it's most valuable ressources, it is quite litterally the opposite (no matter how immoral it may be).

Fuck there was a book or maybe a short story of a tau defector and a guardsmen teaming up after a chaos war band third parties the planet they were fighting over it was pretty good the whole time the guardsmen was on edge waiting for the tau defector to shoot him in the back or turn chaos because you know once a traitor always a traitor only for the tau guy to be the realest mofo in the galaxy and sacrifice herself so the guardsmen to get away

@ trying to do what is right really? The only ones that do right is the few space marine chapters such as the Lamenters, salamanders and dark krakens they are humanity the imperium does not. If the imperium was truly right then numerous planets wouldn’t have rebel against the imperium because the imperium wants to keep the war machine going while leaving planets to fight for themselves is why space marine chapters went against the imperium such as the Astral claws. The imperium is blinded and failed yet can’t change because it would mean accepting they failed.
