Wearable electronics have a sweat problem. Most electronic materials aren’t permeable, and if a device isn’t breathable, sweat can start to build up on the skin. That’s uncomfortable for the user, and not great for the device which could lose signal quality, or just fall off.
Breathable electronics do exist, but the technology is in its infancy. Now though a team of researchers have developed a new breathable platform that could be easily integrated with cutting edge electronics.

Isn't it just going to end up concentrating salt and other gross exudate junk on the other side

I would expect any finished product to be simply washable. I'd be more concerned about clogging the channels themselves.

I wear a CGM, and putting it onto sweaty areas decreases the time it will remain stuck on. The reason for this seems to be because sweaty areas also exude more skin OIL which neutralises the adhesive. The adhering areas are already made of medical adhesive gause which wicks moisture, so thats not a problem. Tho maybe this new tech will wick skin OILs to the surface more effectively, before they can interfere with the adhesive?

Even just having a watch that doesn’t have sweat build up like that would be nice, let alone more important stuff like Halter Monitors and or Continuous Blood Glucose Sensors et !

Interesting stuff. I'm a bit surprised the prototype at least didn't seem to have any waterproofing. The thought of sweat pooling directly around those circuits made me a bit nervous.

I wonder if this could be used for hormone or other transdermal patches, those also tend to come off because of sweat.
