Tl:dr believing that the simpsons predicts the future is ahistoric and doesn’t take into account the past. I think people need to realize that the simpsons were not trying to predict the future but they were commenting on how things were at the time. And a lot of what they were commenting on is still relevant to today. You just start to realize that things really havnt changed that much. Like the tech gets better but the social systems are still crap. “Even if the courts don’t work, as long as everyone is filming everyone, justice will be served” is not a prediction. It’s a commentary on what was going on at the time of airing.

There have been some minor mutations discovered around nuclear meltdown sites, but Nuclear power plants, even counting the few high profile disasters, are still statistically the most environmentally safe and clean form of power in existence today. Also, meteorites hit earth hundreds of times a year. By definition, a meteorite is tiny and basically harmless. It is meteors that are dangerous since they are big enough to cause major problems.

The whole quarantining part of the disease in The Simpsons that was completely forgotten about after five minutes is probably inspired by the fact that self-isolation has been a proven way to greatly slow the spread of pandemics, as it was a method used during the outbreak of the Black Plague and onward.
