Right on! It’ll be a good feeling to get done

In west Michigan, the whole month of April was a wash so things started later than we wanted. But the weather turned around for the better in the last 2-3 weeks! I’d say most guys are anywhere between half and 3/4s done now.

Thanks for the content and details on trying newer science on your fields. Finally planting this Memorial weekend in central Wisconsin after hopefully our last frost last night.

We been adding milk to our sprays and our seed starter for a couple years now...didn’t know about seed germination...we use it for another bacteria source!.. Cool to learn about seed germination too!..
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
What kind of results are you seeing by adding the milk?
@gggbon2 жыл бұрын
Are there any cultures added to the milk or is it just a way to feed the existing micro organisms?
@microsoilenhancersinspirey57502 жыл бұрын
@@gggbon it’s a way to feed the existing microbes...we give them a big boost when we foliar feed the milk due to more lactobacilli settling on leaves to give more protection from disease and predators while building the natural bricks level...

We have been planting green in rye with 1795 with twister closers curious what closers y'all are using. Keep having wrapping issues on closers.
@christiangangl57432 жыл бұрын
Hi Carp, we have in Austria 2 different rye variaties: cereal rye for corn harvest and "green rye" for biomass production (low corn yield). The green rye ist good for sowing soybean direct in it. The challange is, that the green rye sucks too much water in spring and aferwards its too less for the soybean. In a wet year it will be ok. Further question: do you don´t have problems with seed fly (Delia platura and Delia florilega) and wireworm (larva of Elateridae (Coleoptera))? especially if you are to early with seeding its a big problem here in organic farming.

Wireworm likes monocultures....

What's the plan for the cereal rye? curious if you cut and bale/chop for certain use?
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
It will get rolled with our roller crimper. That will terminate it and it will act as a mat to hold weeds back.

Interesting about the milk. Curious to know what rate you're applying in full and in-furrow . Sounds like a pricey endeavor though. Did you try to keep some control areas without application for comparison?
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
We applied the milk at 5 gallons spraying and 5 gallons in furrow. We have control areas to see if it helps. Adding some good biology to the soil!

where do you buy your bulk milk from? wanna try some on sweet corn. I am sure you have to spray it quickly before it's yogurt lol
@byronc89862 жыл бұрын
What do you do with the rye now that the soybeans are planted?
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
We will come back when the soybeans are about v1-v2 and roll it with our roller crimper. This will terminate the rye

@@farmingwithcarp8551 when will that be? in 3-4 weeks?
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
@@christiangangl5743 Yes usually about that long. All depends how quick the beans grow, could be a little sooner
@janclodvacban16922 жыл бұрын
Us the rye better now because it grew or it’s because of the fields.
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
The rye really exploded in the month of may with the heat. It looks better now and has definitely added some great biomass

You can used the milk to make l.a.b or lactic acid bacteria, check out chris trump for korean natural farming on you tube, for more information about how to make.
@farmingwithcarp85512 жыл бұрын
Interesting stuff! I wonder what a use rate would be to apply foliar to a crop
@gggbon2 жыл бұрын
I imagine you would have to spray pretty quick (like 3-4 hours max after inoculating) otherwise you're going to have yogurt in your sprayer!
@craighinshaw24372 жыл бұрын
If you look up korean natural farming and it will show you the process of separation of lactric acid bacteria and the whey, You are basically making cheese , and using whey , you can mix it with raw brown sugar to store it longer

@@craighinshaw2437 I've watched a few of Chris Trump's videos, but hadn't seen any that use milk. I'll check it out, thanks for the pointer

Foxtail is a grass that we deal with a lot in soybeans. It can really impact the yield potential in a crop. The milk is suppose to make an environment where the grass won’t germinate. That’s the hope.
