@@user-uq1fq6gs3i Mr. Halloway, in CR Bond is subject to the authority of a haughty nobody who knows nothing of spy craft or gambling when Bond is the best at both. Bond submits to that repulsive liar, arrogant, phony, mission-undermining, sexual harasser, attempted murder- and terror- accomplice, and dream-killer Vesper who nearly got him killed and succeeded in getting him genitally tortured (she also got Mathis imprisoned and tortured, and disrupted their lifelong friendship; she is far more evil, er, “empowered”, in the film than in the novel). I suppose it’s possibly enjoyable viewed as a love story, soap opera or drama but it’s not Fleming’s James Bond. In the novel, the focus is on Bond’s professionalism, his love of card gambling and his determination to defeat the bad guys. As for Vesper, in the novel their exceedingly brief hormonal love crumbles overnight into misery, lasting precisely zero minutes after Bond falls asleep and gets up early for a swim. When Bond learns that she was a traitor, he immediately puts her out of his mind in shame and disgust and rededicates himself to his profession; she is no hero as portrayed in the film. James Bond is a spy novel, not “Love Story” or a TV Drama.

Then I became older and saw the Pierce Brosnan ones in the cinema with my brother and father, that really was JB zenith right there; he nailed it as much as Connery....... and then came Craig 😒.... BANG gone was the witty British spy with glib remarks and in comes the emotionless Jason Bourne that has the expression if NO light was burning in that upper room to make it more 'China friendly'. Like with that one movie Casino Royal; all my fandom was gone in an instant after I saw how they screwed up the character. Ever since I only saw Skyfall.... yeah the story is there, it's a popcorn movie and to some extend I enjoyed it, but as a Bond movie?.... no.... just look at how extremely plank of wood and piece of lumber Daniel's acting was when Silva revealed to be a former double 0 in that glass tube.... a vacant expression as if he was simply not there.... no glib remark, no emotion at all. That for me was pretty much the final straw that I decided to not even watch any more JB in the future.

@Numpteez The killing of Bond was a gratuitous slap and spit in the face, like the desecration of his 007 number (no one will ever be allowed to wear Mickey Mantle's Number 7); like the ignominious dumpster death of Mathis and now the killing of his great friend Leiter; like Bond never being informed he had a daughter; like Bond mewling over that obnoxious and overbearing lying monster and disgusting traitor Vesper; like Bond acceding to the condition that he retire to be with snot-faced, disrespectful, gapped-toothed, unsmiling Sourpussy, Lea SeyDough-Girl. Everything about James Bond that made him the great cinematic hero more than half a century has been systematically erased and replaced with the opposite by an agenda and Craig as James Bond is no longer James Bond: he is a sorry, weak, decommissioned, emasculated smacked ass who is set upon by the females who rule over and tinkle on him. He is no longer attractive nor does he have any love interest in this movie. Read the novels: James Bond is not girly-emotional (his profession does not permit it; he would be dead otherwise), nor does he bow to anyone except legitimate authority; he expresses most emotion about the men he respects and admires from working with them on assignments, e.g., his male Boss M, Quarrel and Leiter, all of whom he “loves” is his own way. Most of the women are strong, admirable characters, but they are feminine and not miserable spitfire snotfaces (only the evil ones are). James Bond is NOT a love story or a platform for social conditioning. Fleming's Bond puts his profession over any woman, including his wife to be Tracy, and expels the poisonous snake Vesper from his mind; he dreads any life of convention or comfort; he is married for 1 hr 15 mins. and his hormonal love for Vesper lasts 0 minutes before devolving into misery and repulsive chaos; when he learns the truth, he pushes the thought of her aside in shame and disgust, then gets back to work, which he loves. Craig is NOT James Bond except in name, gadget, tuxedo and other non-essential externalities. The essence of James Bond has been cancelled so only the Halloween Costume that Craig was wearing was left and even that was killed as they couldn't restrain themselves even from that final indignity.
@MichaelB-jw5po3 жыл бұрын

They might as well have called it Jason Bourne, or mission impossible to infinity and beyond..... this ain't Bond. As far as it being Craig's fault... no. Actually he has been a great casting as he plays the character that Bond is supposed to be very well costarring along Angelina Jolie as rival raider in Tombraider.... but I think this has been a huge fuck up of the management/writers team trying to push their pants down arse up for that sweet 'China pandering money' and in so doing destroyed their protagonist utterly; to the point I haven't even been interested in seeing ANY James Bond after the extremely disappointing Casino Royal.

Bond settling down with a wife defeats the entire point of the ending of QOS. Most Bond fans always assumed considering Casino Royale was a soft reboot/origin story, the death of Vespa would explain why Bond is the way he is with women, instead he keeps pining over them. This film forgets that Bond is a male power fantasy. So a aging, domesticated Bond with female counter parts as equals that dies at the end isn't exactly what anyone wants to see.

Completely right about the ending of QOS - add on top of that the graveyard scene in NTTD does exactly the same thing. He was over Vesper, at peace, had got his SOLACE. So what the hells he doing going to Vespers grave saying “I miss you”? You can’t have it both ways... For all its quick cut editing, QOS was a great, gritty Bond film and completed his origin. Casino & Quantum are authentic, coherent films. For me, it’s downhill from there. And yes I include the pretentious, contrived Skyfall.

What is with productins in recent years making the "strong female" characters bitchy in every production? They could make everyone take to these characters if they were normal acting, and were written well? Saying Bond struggling with just one person whereas the lady is having an easy time mowing down multiple people works is like saying Loki getting his dick kicked in multiple times and being humiliated multiple times works, because the writers "aren't being mean spirited about it". It degrades the character, especially if they are being portrayed as highly experience and competent. It would be a different story if Bond was struggling with multiple people while the lady is not, because he has been injured so much and been out of the game for so long, now that would actually work.

This was a guy who held his own against Thor and survived a beatdown by the hulk with just a few scratches...but can't hold his own against a cocky human fat woman. He was established as a machiavellian powerhouse in the MCU, and the writers changed him to be whatever was convenient in order to tell the story they wanted to. Speilberg's directing is flawless and has a deftness of touch that adds just the perfect sparkle. I don't think any modern director in tinseltown is capable of it, and certainly of all people The House Of Mouse isn't... their sausage factory policy of simply buying up I.P's and turning them into endless, cookie-cutter product, CGI-fests where the special effects sequences are all storyboarded and shot before a director is even hired to do the rest of the movie... we've seen where that leads. All the access media reported how "stunning and brave" this movie is to have the first gay/lesbian as a protagonist in an animated movie. At no time in the movie was her sexual orientation relevant. Yet, a single line put in at the end of the movie (which could easily have been left out), satisfied the needs of modern day media. Just a single line. And that's exactly why they put it in. Because it's convienent and easy.
@Michael_Ian_Blackface3 жыл бұрын

They also did that in ParaNorman. Everyone and their brother was ranting and raving about this movie, so I watched it. I didn't think it was anything to write home about, just another cliche "angry ghost child" plot. And again at the very end, the Jock chacter turns to Norman's sister and says "- You're going to love my boyfriend. He's a chick-flick nut." Again. Out of left field just to virtue signal.

@@IncredibleMet spectre isn't THAT bad. Ok, the step-brother plot wasn't a clever move, the theme song was no Chris Cornell brilliance and the Rome car chase should've had a bit more oomph to it. But we did have the perfectly formed Monica Bellucci, despite being dreadfully underused (just like Ana de Armas, from what I hear) and thank god for some much-needed humour. They can say James bond will return, doesn't say when. I think the next film in the franchise won't be a Bond movie, it'll be a 007 movie. Now they've established the fact other characters can have the codename that means it can be played by either a male or female so the next few films will be Lashana Lynch playing 007 then when she's had enough they'll bring in a new character to take the 007 codename either male or female, same thing was done with Dr Who, they first established the fact they can regenerate into male or female with the introduction of Missy, that was to get everybody used to the fact, then it was the Dr's turn. They've just introduced you to the fact that ANYONE can have the 007 mantle.

What tipped me off was making Q gay, like who cares but they have to obessively state it. Next time you see James Bond it'll be his daughter the bestest evar in the role. It will flop badly and become unwatchable by 1/2 the population that loved JB movies. Very predictable.
