I was doing a lot of double knitting right before COVID. Then, well, COVID. I got my practice swatch back out yesterday , read my notes, but could NOT get it to lock. So I came back to watch your video some more today-the same video I learned it from in the first place. Thank you!

I like this edge. I couldn't figure out how to do this from the video, but the description in the notes is very good. Extremely important to hold the pearling yarn at the back of the knitting such that it will cross the knitting yarn when it is pulled forward. Thank-you for the tip!

I did exactly as you said (wrote it down). What I didn't realize, I found out by re-watching, is that you can't keep your throw yarns straight. you actually want one to wrap the other. made all the difference in the world!

Hey, I learned a lot. I knit a different way but I know that I can still learn from watching. We all have our own way of holding our yarn and each way has advantages. Can't believe someone would offer criticism. Not very nice.

Thank you for the update! This is what I was not doing correctly. I thought I was carrying the yarn the right way when bringing it over to the front, but apparently not. After testing with a few more rows on my swatch and paying closer attention, it's finally clicked. Love your videos!

The quality of this video is much appreciated. Your edging is very attractive. I do prefer working a technique with two strands of yarn held together on both edges of double knitting because of the extra stability that provides.

Thanks so much! This is so incredibly well done. Beautifully explained, clearly demonstrated. So many other videos are done in Continental knitting or a combination of holding a color in each hand and on tiny needles in poorly contrasting colors. I’m so glad this video is still available. You have helped thousands and me too!

This question and reply really helped. It would be useful to add this in the description, because you don't mention in the video that this is what makes the difference between a closed edge and a separated edge. I hadn't realized that thepurpose of this method was to join the edges - I thought it was just to look neat, and I couldn't figure out why it was any different than just carrying on to the end, then turning.normally. I'm glad I saw that someone else was having the same problem as me!

This is very helpful, thank you! I really like the nice clean look of this. On most of my flat double knit projects I've been adding a one stitch border a stitch or two in from the edge to lock the edges closed. But now I won't have to if it's not a design element I want in there!

This is great, but what do you do with the very first 2 stitches, before you get to the end of the row? Do you knit them together? slip them?

+lissaplus3 I mean after you've cast on and are starting your very first row, do you knit the first two stitches together, do you slip them etc.? Your video starts at the LAST 2 stitches, so I am wondering what you do with the 1st 2.
@lissaplus3

please, please show how to knit and purl after the turn!!! I'm missing something, because I have this ugly bar draping across the side after I purl the second stitch. I don't really know what I missed and I've watched this video 4 or 5 times. The parts I understand you take plenty of time to demonstrate, but when it gets to the part I'm not getting, you blaze right over it and the process is not repeated. Yikes. I cannot believe that Americans all seem to knit with the yarn on their RIGHT side! It is slow and looks very awkward. I prefer knitting in the Continental style with the yarn in my left hand--it's twice as fast and efficient. I can't even stand watching these videos.
