In Asia, we do wear underwears. Just special ones, high cut skin colour seamless underpants, transparent or skin colour bras, stick-on bras, boob tape, bras with extension going around the front and back for really low back leos. Hooha health comes first and modesty because here it'd be something else to go around naked in the dressing room with your costumes unfastened.

honestly that makes a lot of sense. Any sort of nude seamless thong would probably work under leotards and I can’t imagine it being healthy wearing a leotard with a mid seam while doing ballet😬

it’s the same as gymnastics!! :) i’m assuming dance leo’s are pretty similar to gymnastics leo’s, but we never wear any underwear with our leotards in gymnastics either. we do wear sports bras to practice, but for competitions we have to find a specific bra that won’t show at all underneath our comp leo because otherwise it’s a deduction. btw - i’m a competitive gymnast and i love watching your videos and learning abt the parallels between ballet and gymnastics. i’ve always wanted to take a ballet class for this very reason 💗

Usually the dancer will wear underwear most of the time while using a pad on their peroid😊

I understand the logic to forbid wearing something that gets visible, like a bra or a normal underwear, so by that logic, invisible seamless ones should be okay no? I'm really curious to have your answers about this.

I have danced for 9 years and it has mainly been ballet. Unless it’s an actual recital then I will wear underwear. Sometimes I’ll wear it during a performance, but I’ll make sure that you can’t see it and that it matches either the leotard or the tights.

A dance belt is a padded thong- it softens and smooths the area and makes it less of a focal point. Like ballerina’s matching shoes to tights, it visually elongates the leg and gives a seamless line

There isn’t really a reason they put the tights over the leotard, it’s mostly preference. Some find it more comfortable and also just to get out of that ‘student’ feel of dancing, as usually students have to wear their tights u dear their leotard:) tights over the leotard also makes dancers legs look longer which elongates the line of the body, which some dancers like as ballet is all about lines:)❤❤

Hmh... no underwear when on your period seems so scary... especially with the tights underneath the leotard. Without a pad (which I guess would be completely out of question for ballet) or an additional panty liner I wouldn't be comfortable to leave the house as there could always happen some minor leakage with a tampon...
