My mom bought me this album for my birthday (12/24) and gave it to me just before I went to deliver newspapers in a blizzard at 5am. I listened to this entire thing and fucking loved it. Even though it was almost 20 years ago I’ll never forget trudging through snow and listening to this album on my CD player.

I get it. Their sound is far from extreme. The melodies may even sound a bit teenagerish at times. But as in all punk 'n hardcore masterpieces, they are full of soulful realism. I think No Use - and specially Tony in his solo albums - made beautiful and honest renditions of life in our time and age, and for this I'll always regard them with high respect and admiration.
@Canis_Fatalis Жыл бұрын
@@silviofreitas5822Their first 3 albums have a great blend of extremity. When I started listening to this album, I thought "oh-no, is this where they started to go pop?". Then the verse started and I was like "Nah, this is great!". So far, this is actually turning out to be my favorite album by them. Still better than blink and green day to me. *shrug*

I was lucky enough to see NUFAN live 6 times. Best show i ever saw em put on was at bogarts in cincinatti, worst show was surely the warped tour. The warped tour show wasn't a bad show but the outside venue is horrible in the hottest months of the summer. After no use played i left...miss you tony!
@julesmcgrules38608 жыл бұрын
I only saw them at the Warped Tour in '05. I had heard of them before but this was my first time actually hearing them. They put on one hell of a set; I wish they had more then thirty minutes because I was hooked immediately. Bought the Daily Grind shortly after that, loved the hell out of that EP and still do. I'd say Leche is my favorite of their albums but I really love them all.

This was one of the last punk albums I bought as a teenager, pretty much at the tail end of my punk phase. I soon after shifted gears to primarily classical and weird atonal music, and haven't really listened to a lot of punk music since (or much of any rock or pop, for that matter). But this year (as I'm approaching 40), I've been taking some strolls down memory lane and revisiting a lot of the music I was into as a teenager. Most of it makes me cringe, but this album has somehow only gotten better. I've been listening to it nonstop for days now, and kinda getting choked up, knowing now that Tony is no longer with us (which I actually only learned a few days ago). He was such a thoughtful lyricist, and a really swell dude. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times in the 90's. He didn't have an ounce of rock star in his body. A poet first and foremost.

Still can't believe he's gone...LOVE YOU TONY! My first show was the Fat Wreck Tour back in 1999. NUFAN, Good Riddance, and Mad Caddies. I got my 14 year old ass whooped in the mosh pit. It was life changing.

Holy shit ... I went to the show in St . Pete and this was my first ouno rock show. All the bands on that ticket were amazing but when nufan played I saw the biggest circle mosh pit I've ever seen in my life. Since then I've been to many shows of all kinds of rock and metal and have never seen anything so magical. The entire crowd was involved in the cirlce not one person left out. It was amazing. I miss the fellowship of going to punk shows like that. I always felt welcome.

What a sad day.. I´ve never talked to Tony.. I´ve only seen him once on a "dream coming true" NUFAN gig in Brazil on their first time here, in 2007.. I had the albums.. I had nothing but a huge admiration for his work.. But his songs and lyrics are so tattooed on my brain and means so much to me, that it really feels like a very close friend passing away.. After all, Tony has been a part of my life for the last 15 years or so.. It´s awful that I won´t hear news from him anymore.. Thanks, bro!

Unlucky seventeen, already handed plans for the future Glamour obsessed, told how to dress, and shown how to think And I don't have a job, but I can show you how to be a slob So many days, wasted and glazed Sometimes I laugh aloud as I think about, You asking me "Please can you help?" Can't help my self I'm not your savior, I'm not who you want me to be A cowardly mistake I've made so many times before, refusing to break Cut my losses ties them with you, like a good boy I'll pretend And promise not to do it again Do you remember when, life was so simple and permanent? Everyone's changed, "Everyone's cool", Everyone sucks But I can't seem to complain, Exciting and new is just not there You're getting scared I'm not your savior, never thought I was anyway I'm a void with empty promises that backs out late Never said I'd change, taking back the words that we spoke Like a fuel tank running dry, you'll believe it when I choke

ROOM 19 It's so long since you've been here And I'm dying... Is there something you would like to say? Just drop the present on the shelf By the flowers And make the feeling go away... Looking back I can't recall Who was listening When I used to walk the streets at night... Like a bird that used to sing I was flying I was happy all the time And it's hard to look back... Better days And different ways I can't explain Another song to sing It all was simplified... Don't know now What it's about What have I learned To live without? It takes a day to live a life... I can't believe the way the world Is so different... Look what the lines in my face have made Living in my bed I'm right next to the road The one that goes the other way... Takes me to a different place Did you know That I was just as young as you I had a job, a home, a family, and a car Did you say That yesterday Or just right now? You'll never know the feeling of my bleeding heart... Did you say That yesterday Or just right now? You'll never know the feeling of my bleeding heart.

LIFE SIZE MIRROR She was gone before a start Always mending broken hearts Making others miserable Not knowing who she's hurting Father said: "This day would be, One for everyone to see" Is this true you'll follow suits and have You learned a thing? It's just a selfish way to go It's safe to say she'll never know For every person there's a whole Life story Waiting to be told When she is happy it's ok But when these people start to fade Then we'll just watch her self-destruct as she gets old She put up defensive shields To walk through all of life's minefieds All defined by make-up and a car behind she's hiding "Father do you have to go, Left me questions, I don't know" Any answers or even close the life time Lie was true She's gonna move on with her life And take it one heart at a time And watch the little girl inside her Wait behind as she goes on But with this black heart she decides Who she'll take in and shove aside Until the day she sees that everyone has gone Getting used to people leaving Thinking true love is deceiving Soon she'll know how lonely it can be Now was it really worth the pain? A couple pills make her feel sane As she lives out the story Written for the part she is to play With so much shame for her to hide There's no more dignity, no pride And there will only be dark in her light of day And she will only see a reflection Of her father's rejection Nothing will change until she breaks This life This life size mirror...
