I am from France, I bought this masterpiece at a local record store when I was 15... I am 40 years old now... aaargh... I saw NOFX 4 times (without Decline)... until they announced that they planed to play their final tour. On the tour dates, only one gig in France in the city of Chambery... just 30 minutes from home. That was a few days ago, in a room with 6500 NOFX fans from the whole country and abroad. Last song: they played The Decline. I got goosbumbs when they started to play the intro... 25 years later I was finally looking at this punkrock masterpiece playing live... a priceless moment in my life with a huge singalong communion with fans at the end. For sure I will remember this moment of the french final show. Thank you NOFX, so long and thanks for everything

One of the countless reasons I fucking love this band.

we did that for years every weekend at the local caffe bar here in Croatia, and every time the owner lady said "one more song", we put Decline on, turn off the monitor with a screensaver password left on and the pogo begins. when she said that, she grabbed the heavy tray and waited for the song to finish. crazy pogos were held there, but with every glass and bottle of the caffe left intact. you wreck shit, you get out and you're happy if you don't get the tray over your back. we were all afraid of her as she is our own mother now, thinking of it, I realize that all of us were young enough and didn't realize that she knew how long this song was. but what was really important is that she enjoyed watching us being happy. and that was the whole point. dear Sylvia, thank you for giving us the place where we can create our own story for years, in a town where that kind of stuff was kinda imaginable at the beginning of the 2000s in a small town like ours here in Croatia. we understand that now. all of us will be the 'parents in need' for your children in their best years. our parents could sleep well and not even worry about us when they knew we're at your place. we'll do the same for you and your kids now. Maybe in a century, now for sure not. It came out too late. Often in art, in music, people put more importance about who did a technique first, who was more famous, the song that was more relevant for other artists. But those are not quality criteria, those are historical o sociology criteria. So to me we need decades and maybe critics will recognize what a fucking human gift to the universe is this song.

The line he plays moments before they rip into “place a wager on your freedom, wager on your pride…” is incredibly difficult on its own aside from after 4 measures he sings over it, quite passionately might I sneak in there……With me always since a tender 14 years old, many moons ago. @Gonzisonsbc... Ya I know... Most (key word most) people in the US are fucking ignorant and if it doesn't affect them then they don't care... They would rather follow Kim Kardashians hair styles then give a fuck about innocent children, women and men brutally murderd by weapons supplied by their own country. It's a very fucking sad and pathetic way to live.
