He thinks I'm a sh*t player in a sh*t team. He expects us to lose anyway, so what's the point?" Surely the manager has to leave room for motivation... has to say "We are lacking in a number of areas but still have some quality. I expect if the team executes the plans well, then we can win some games and can improve until we are able to strengthen" Utd have still spent money and bought some good players... players who should be better than Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest, Brighton etc players. I don't always agree with Carra the pundit, even if he is a legend in my club. But he is kinda right on this one. Blasting your team as worst buch of losers ever doesn't mean much if it's from the fanbase. If you're the boss, it's different. I don't necessarily think he meant it quite as bad as media and fans were doomed to make out, but if players took it that way, things will get worse, not better

He cracked first major media interview of his tenure, complaining about media duties. I get it, it sucks, but that’s been the job of every Utd manager and every big team Prem manager. Weak 😂
@johnmiceter16 сағат бұрын
Yeah but does Amorim want to take any of the blame or is he blaming his players? I find him very arrogant and he hasn't proven himself anywhere in a decent League yet and its no wonder why that United team can't play well, when the Manager says stuff about you like this. I would argue that when Klopp first joined Liverpool, he had a far worse squad then this United team and he also had to dramatically change the way they played. But it was still obvious they were heading in the right direction. I dont see this at all with Amorim and United.
@talisa22215 сағат бұрын

If i am a member of the current team, i won’t be pulling 100% for the guy who just throw me under the bus. If i am a potential player coming in, i would think twice after Amorim’s comments. Amorim maybe right in his assessment (he is definitely right that he has been worse than the guy before him until now), but i don’t think his comments help anyone.
@Patrick-o2p9 сағат бұрын
Amorim is obviously hedging his bets. If results don't improve between now and the end of the season, he will go down as the worst manager in the clubs history! You will then have the disastrous combination of the worst manager in charge of the worst team in the history of Manchester United!

Many former players are saying the same thing, as they have experienced the impact of this stuff in dressing room. I don’t think you can simply discard that insight, even if you agree with Amorim as a fan. You can need to be real, but still shape how truth is spoken. That is levels of communication that define the great managers. Either he spoke to the players first, or he took a risk by going so heavy handed with it. As an outsider, it’s interesting to see what happens next…

Ten Hag, Amorim, and Slott all won their respective leagues. That is the constant in this equation. What are the variables? Entitlement. We had some terrible years before Klopp. Nearly years, terrible owners and no direction or stability. Fenway had a plan, Klopp was part of it, and we came back from near oblivion. Utd fans had been so used to success that they didn't factor in Abramovic, then City. Ferguson did. That's why he finally retired.

Managers are totally fair to criticise their players but they too should be the first to defend them. Mourinho would go as far as creating a diversion to focus on him instead of directly calling out on his players. That’s how you build loyalty. (Ok probably the Chelsea Jose, not the United Jose) But point stands. If players are being openly flogged by the manager, good luck in getting the best out of them

Its ironic because youve taken both of Carraghers points out of context😂. The arsenal one was a response to petit saying that his arsenal went on a mad run of games and ended up winning it and he was pointing out that they dont have the same caliber of players. The Amorim one he was basically saying why give the media a soundbite? Did you even do your homework for this one?
