At least this way, with the rain, you know where the water wants to flow, and then now you got to redirect. Good deal. Job well done. Just love being out there watching it all happen.

I think putting in a 3/4 wrap around-type deck (to make room for their add-on) and enclosing a large portion of it and leaving some of it as just decking would be the best option. It would be the best of both combined...

New culvert is a good long term solution, maybe add a little stone all around uphill side and at ground level at either end as an indicator of location relative to road.

Everything is slowly coming together, which might be a blessing. Things you should know but don't either because of unawareness or didn't think of can be corrected, which is a good thing. All those trees falling down is your firewood supply. Generally speaking firewood is cut in 16" lengths and it is good to have a couple of cords (4"x4'x8" = 128 sq. ft.) on hand. Wet wood needs to be dried so it is easy to start a fire and provide heat and not clog up the pipes with creosote. Might want to cut up those tress that fell down to start the process. Usually you'd like to have your wood dye for at least one full summer before you use it to heat with. Another point to mention. All that water you got from the rain, you try to capture it and direct it to the stream and eventually into your water holding tanks. All your water sources need to purified, which I know you know. Think long term needs in your preparation plans - 10-20 years out. Keep your vision on track and make your dreams come true. By the way, I see you're now at 1.5k in subscriptions - congratulations. Keep plugging away. Any thoughts about putting up a barn or other buildings? Got locations picked out for those future buildings? Must be part of your long term plans. Stay well and be careful!! Peace out!

Should consider digging out where that little, normally dry, creek is and putting in a dam too to create a small pond as a water source that'll last a little while after it rains. Will keep you from having to trek over the mountain for water so much.

I was soooooo worried about the unknown rain potential and how it might have affected your property after North Carolina. Fortunately, you now can see what and how the water will react around the areas you've carved out. If I were you, I'd take a hike with your drone to see how that rainfall effected the mountaintops behind your cabin just to be on the safe side.

I would recommend thinning the trees back from the road quite a bit. With winter snow, it could drop the trees across the road so easily. I would recommend doing the same for the area around the cabin as well. I don't know where the solar is going in but think of the fall arc of trees around that location and cut down accordingly. This is the time to start cutting firewood so it can season over the winter. Just pick two good-sized trees about 12-15 feet apart and start stacking logs in between them. I would recommend about 10 cords to start with. Too much is never a bad thing. I keep my cuttings to about 18-20 inches long. I have a jig on the saw that allows me to just slide the log to the stop, cut, and then shove the cut off the back down a ramp to the pile. When a tree is cut we stop and pile up the logs. Rinse and repeat till you run out of trees or space. I picked up some salvaged train rails and set them on concrete blocks to keep the wood off the ground.

If the pump has it's own pressure regulation, I'd advise to put a recycled well bladder tank, tank T, and backflow preventer between the pump and shower to stop it from short cycling so hard. It'll save wear on the pump and will also reduce surge on the inverter as well by increasing the time intervals between cycles. Also, will keep the output pressure more stable. Turn the pump on and let it cycle once to fill the bladder, then continue with taking a shower. Unless there's a pressure leak, the bladder should stay filled until the next time you use the shower. Use the same configuration and operation as a house well, just no external pressure switch.

Now you know where the water goes so you can plan the landscape accordingly. Make sure you put in more culverts and water drainage areas in. You should also clear out a small pond area in the creak bead so water can collect giving you an area big enough to pump out water for storage.
