Yes, I remember Max also had a period with bad starts. Then half a year later or so it improved massively. When asked he said they looked into it, analyzed what went wrong and acted upon it. So, yes, he and his team changed things. That is how you have to approach it.

I just watched the press conference and it's just as you say Cam. I'm flabbergasted by Lando's demeanor! When asked what he learned this year, he says; now I know I've got what it takes.... 🤦‍♀ I know it's acting tough but the insecurity shines all over. Don't make it about mindset, Norris is simply not on the same level. He doesn't have all the minerals to beat Verstappen because Verstappen is a very special driver minerals wise. It would be nice if the British accepted that the most naturally gifted, most developped, most all round driver does not have a British passport. It's unfair to blame Norris for not being Verstappen. Yes he makes more mistakes than Verstappen, about every driver in F1 history did. Compare him to Hamilton in his McLaren years and he is doing better. Sebastian Vettle, not Vettelle, did a lot more than put it on pole lights to flag. That myth is coming from the same toxic bias in which the pure drivers, the overtakers, the real racers can't have a foreign passport. Those are Newey merchants, one trick ponies, straight line speed peddlers, never can they be simply a better racing driver.

Lando Norris is only 2 years, 1 month and 2 weeks younger than Max Verstappen. They are practically the same age at 25 and 27.

And when Max was in Landos age he was a 2 time world champion. Max in 2021 and 2022 won 24 races. With no bad luck he would have won 27-30 races. Lando in a very good car is on 3 race wins. Max is on total 62 GP wins. And his just a kid, compare that with Lewis who was on 25 GP wins at the age of 29. Max is a spartan.

There are many elements to being a champion much less multiple times. Skill is a part of that of course but mental toughness plays a much bigger part. Lando has the skills to compete at the highest level but will always be a beta mentally. In 21 we watched an epic battle between two lions. One leader of the pride and the other the young ambitious challenger. Neither gave in and never would. The battle was 10 times more about under the helmet than on the track. It got dirty at times but it's warfare and anything goes. No one outside of Lewis then and possibly Alonzo could hold up mentally against Max. Has anyone ever noticed Charles never challenges Max in that way? He don't even try. Max is that dude at this point and time. Who in time will be able to compete with him and prevail first mentally then match his skills and ruthlessness?

I think we are not being fair to Lando. Max is on another level. He’s always been world champion material. But in life not everyone is ready since youth. There are a lot of late bloomers. Lando is still very young. This year was his first taste of being at the front. And not only that. He was up against one of the best drivers EVER. So of course it was going to be tough. It was unfair to expect him to win a championship the same year he won his first race. But he is obviously learning. I honestly think that what he means is that he’s been doing a good job in that learning process. He just has to keep going.

He’s done it to himself, he’s taken digs at the greats of f1 such as max and Lewis, and keeps on bottling win after win in the fastest car and not change anything. That and his foul attitude and comments to others has made people hate him, and rightfully so. You can’t be talking the talk without walking the walk. Cameron and the community members: I think you're a bit hard on Lando. Compared to last year, he has made significant progress. No wins to three and quite a few podium finishes. Could be worse, right? Of course, things can and must be better if he wants to become champion. He can still grow in maturity. In terms of mentality and communication skills. That also applies to the team. Rome wasn't built in 1 day either. In addition, Max must also maintain motivation. Constantly having to and wanting to perform at the highest level seems quite a task to me. I therefore have a lot of appreciation for sports people who can do that for years.
