Definitely my favorite episode. Definitely makes the timeline confusing, but my head canon is that Dee and Lydia joined up with the Whisperers. Then, Dee eventually left with Lydia because she didn't think Hera could lead. Then she meets Beta like we see in season 10, and she hatches the plan to use Beta to come back into the whisperers, kill Hera, and take over

I remember already knowing there'd be an Alpha episode back when Tales was coming out, but I always thought it was gonna be episode 6! So this was a pleasant surprise. I kept going back and forth between feeling bad for Alpha and being afraid of her! I did like Brooke, though. Excellent bit of backstory, anyway! Can't wait for the next one!

I found there were things I liked in each episode. 4 I loved the Cinematography, but wasn't fond of the characters. I liked episode 5 was shot and how you leave more as the main character learns more, and the last episode I just like the creepy feel. First 3 I also enjoyed different things for each one. I do think episode 3 is my favorite but it's easy to be invested since we already know the characters. It was hard to care about the characters in any of the others

Of course this is my favorite episode of these "tales". Alpha is my favorite villain of twd universe. As a mother I quite understand her thinking. Having to raise a child under these circumstances. Samantha Morton is freaking spectacular as Alpha.

This is probably my favorite ep of this show. Samantha Morton is outstanding actress! So, timeline-wise, this ep takes place 3 years and 2 months into the apocalypse, which is during Fear S5. They meet Beta one year later and take over the Whisperers from Hera. The showrunner confirmed they have plans to continue this story in S2, where Dee will form a love relationship with Hera. That's why she says "you showed me love".

The origin of the whisperers in this isn’t very consistent with the main show but the way I try explaining it is they’re like the early whisperers and they die out, leaving it as just Alpha and Lydia until she meets Beta I would like Season 2 to do more stories or characters we’ve seen on the main show like maybe even unimportant side characters

So guys, this is Alpha and Lydia before joining the Whisperers. The boat is an old Mississippi riverboat. Coal burning produces steam spins the wheels. Yeah, guys a one off origin story for Alpha.

The big surprise here is Alpha did not create the Whysperers! Looks like she sampled their way of life. Went back to the world of the living. Hooked up with Beta and returned to the world of the dead! The rest is WD history!

This backstory is complete inconsistent with the one from TWD. In hindsight, the writers justified this by saying that Lydia and Alpha are not reliable narrators. Alpha is crazy and Lydia was brainwashed at the time.

It's plenty consistent, it's just that a lot of things can happen in-between this and what we already got to see. We all know how strongly Alpha feels about things, so this wouldn't be any different. We all know how the Whisperers structure works, they even hint at that. It's just that most fans can't seem to fill in the blanks and just yell inconsistent and bad writing. That is what it comes across as for me at least. And since this needs clarifying it seems, that is NOT me saying anyone is stupid or anything.

One thing I’m confused about is why alpha and Lydia were on their own when they ran into Beta. If they had already met Hera and alpha killed/took her face, wouldn’t she have been with the whisperers around the time she found beta?

This is one of, if not THE BED one of this series in my opinion. I may be biased cause it's a familiar face as a super fan, but I loved getting more from her and Lydia and their relationship dynamic before she became Alpha. She was an alpha before her given title if you ask me! She did shit her way and it kept Lydia safe. Whoever the woman was to her (sister I'm assuming or family of the husband perhaps?) She just couldn't see past the fact her mother didn't dress her in the finest or more feminine? I get where her character was coming from but still. And the Beta introduction!! Seeing her more the dominant parent than the father was... Just everything. She was animalistic and willing to do anything and Lydia's dad was not.
