I ride a 32 every day and easily can do 20 or so miles in flat pavement.... Hills are really hard you have to pretty much stand on the pedals and i know a 36 is even harder. Good workout though. Best in my opinion.

Yes, that's pretty true... the hardest for me is downhill.
