@@ed5308I understand that people are poor there but it's a low blow to make up false accusations to get easy money as well. I am not supporting this particular guy but the number of scams I have heard or read about really scares me from even talking to a Filipina because it sounds like they can make up any story they like and nobody will believe the foreigner no matter what. It's called corruption and even the so called law are in on it in some cases. In any other normal country you should be able to sit down and say this is not working out mutually and going separate ways is the obvious thing to do. In my country there wouldn't be a cash payment expected unless joint lease and that kind of thing needs to be settled and their share determined too. This man did do things the wrong way but months in jail or more is a bit over the top. A financial contribution at worst. This sort of thing will hurt Philippines more than it helps them. I have been twice but compared to Thailand tourism was weak there and I put that down to kidnappings, crime and now I think these kind of laws. If what we are told by the girls about Filipino men running away from getting gf pregnant is true then why arent they getting found and prosecuted? How many times is it found out the girl has several foreign bf and a local husband or bf as well. No wonder the country struggles with policy like this. But still I am also against straight out dirt bags too so don't get me totally wrong here.

And they can just choose to not proceed with there charges at any time. Very annoying but up to you if you want to counteract and press charges for slander. Just to give an example how weak you are as a foreigner and best to stay low key on a friendly base with anyone you encounter. Foreigner who starts playing around, will risk be played with in return. Bob was not a nice person. Very inhumane way to separate. He should try to make amends now so the court will see he is trying to "do the right thing". Things could be worse. She could've claimed that he beat her and/or the daughter. FYI, currently in the US, many states go a step further. Once you invite someone into your home, whether it be for an hour or 6 months, if they don't leave you can't just throw them out. You have to evict them. Had they been in the US, the police would've escorted her back into the home and possibly have asked Bob to leave. In the land of no divorce its always better to rent than to buy.
@Joey-ms1vu2 ай бұрын
Sorry, but I have no respect for a guy who can throw a woman and her child out on the streets. He should've walked out and supported her and the child until she could get back on her feet. He asked her to quit her job and move, this makes them his responsibility.

I hope the Philippine justice system is more fair rendering judgment than the "jurors" in this video's comment section. You all have condemned Bob with only hearing the prosecution's side of the story (yes, Mike is the prosecutor). In this video Prosecutor Mike clearly is on the side of the woman and her child, and has presented his case all neat and tidy and wrapped with a bow. The verdict he wants is Bob being found guilty of boorish behavior and for that he needs to go to prison. But think about what you guys are saying. These kinds of breakups occur in the U.S. thousands of times daily. Men come home to find their clothes and golf clubs tossed out the window and on to the front lawn for all the neighbors to see. Without notice locks are changed. A cheating wife comes home to find all her stuff in trash bags, and told in a note on the kitchen counter she has 2 hours to get out. In the U.S. the police don't get involved because there's no state has a law that governs the proper way to end a relationship (that's because there is no proper way, everyone is different. And also because the law of MYOB rules the land. Had this happened in the U.S. Bob would not have to suffer the holier-than-thou opinions of KZbinrs in here, those who think THEIR way of ending a relationship is the lawful way, and because Bob didn't do it YOUR WAY he deserves what he gets, which according to some comments means he should go to prison. That's pretty harsh for a foreigner not knowing that breaking up in the Philippines has to be handled differently than in the U.S. (I'm not too sure that's the way the law works, but I don't practice in the Philippines so I can't opine on it.) Personally, I don't think Bob will end up in prison, not if the Embassy has anything to say about it. If I were him I'd simply pack up and go back to the U.S. It is the Philippine's loss. Bob contributed a lot of money to the Philippine economy. He should take his wallet and voluntarily deport. Side note: The Philippine govt. should be concerned about these kinds of videos. Who knows how many men in the U.S. and other foreigners hear these kinds of stories and decide to look elsewhere for a place to retire. The Philippine retirement authority must get a kick out of the handful of expat channels warning men with $100,000 USD annual pensions to stay away from the Philippines, because if you do go there you are going to get framed, scammed, arrested, rendered penniless, and/or end up in prison. It worked for me. I'm no longer considering retirement to the Philippines. I'm taking my net $90,000 USD pension now looking at retiring to Portugal instead. Reason: because it is too risky moving to the Philippines. I have heeded the advice of the Philippines-located expats. There's no medical care, no support, and everyone is out to get you including the government, all Filipinas, and even the condo doorman. Bottom line: Seems there's a big "NOT WELCOME" doormat at Philippine airports. P.S. I don't know which is worse, retiring to the Philippines or Russia, and maybe even the DPRK.

Bob F'd up big time, and happens to be in a country that won't tolerate it. Good for them. You're right, if Bob wanted out he should have left while she was going to pick up her daughter and told her he was moving back to Cebu and would pay the rent for the remainder of the lease. You don't tell a professional single mom to quit work, move into your house with her daughter, then literally put them out in the street when you get tired of them by locking them out of their home at 5pm when she's bringing her child home from school. I guess he thought he was being cute, or getting the last word in, showing her who was in charge. That's a terrible thing to do to a woman with a child that you've agreed to be responsible for. For her part, she should have never moved in without getting married if she was going to bring her child, but that's easy to say from the outside looking in. I look forward to seeing how this turns out. Warning to all of us - don't move someone in with you unless you're committed for the long-term and/or planning to get married. The Philippines isn't the U.S.

I lean toward sympathy for her and the daughter, that was cold blooded what he did. Wish we had laws like that to protect women here in the states. We do have a law here that protects an occupant who is invited to live at the address and can not be evicted immediately. Some states have a 72hr and others a 30 day, but who could live where they are unwanted. Sad day for sad people.

A lot of you are blaming Bob, but who wants to live with someone that they're not getting along with. He is on the lease, what should he have done? Walk away from the lease?. Instead of admitting that the Philippines has some of the shitties laws on the planet you would rather blame the foreigner. Such hypocrites

Marcus u retard. He doesn't have to live with someone he doesn't get along with. He should just have thought about her situation also as he broke up with her. Given her at least a couple of weeks to sort out her living situation, find a new job etc. Otherwise ppl will hate you for being a dick as it sounds like you are. Don't have relationships if you can't handle them. Jerk off instead.

I'm going to be honest either you're a terrible storyteller or you are just reading these stories because you do not tell a story like you're actually telling it you're telling it like you're reading it. I for one do not believe this guy called you... I believe you read it somewhere.. but that's not the important part. The important part is Bob has a right to get rid of this woman.. who knows how crazy she was acting and he maybe had to go to this length to get rid of her

I see a few of these videos with guys going to the Philippines, retirement, or whatever. It's not something I'm ever expecting to be able to do or have the freedom to do. Sure, maybe they're widowers, divorced, or whatever. But, what about their families? Kids? Grand kids? While there's many legitimate ways the situation can present itself. I think there's also a large dose of Peter Pan syndrome going on. Guys who want to feel young again or feel like they were plunged into adulthood too early and never experienced a vibrant dating life? But then there's guys like Bob! Self-involved and self-centered. If you're a "it's my way or the highway" type individual, then maybe the Philippines ain't the place for you. With Bob's attitude, we could probably safely assume how he ended up in a position to go to the Philippines. Unfortunately, maybe it's too late in life for him to learn anything from it. 😢

Two sides to every coin. Where is the father to that daughter. She was single with child for a reason. If it was a toxic relationship he should have seen red flags and got out before displacing her and moving her in. I'm sure his other head clouded his judgement until it was too late. However, if she was a decent person then let justice prevail for her.

Thanks for this very valuable info, Mike. If a cop asks, "Are you sure that is what you want to do?" ... the correct answer is, "Am I violating the law if I do that?" Aside from that, what he did was a rotten thing. Expats here aren't dating on a level financial playing field like in the US. Don't give a woman hope in order to have a good time with her only to change your mind and leave later. That's poor character. If you want to date around, don't have the woman live with you. Don't set up a better life for her (and her child) only to pull the rug out later ... especially if you took her away from employment and a place where she was stable already. Very low thing to do.
