X and ski were actually so close that people would frequently refer to ski and x's duo partner or his second half and not as individual artists. Which they were, and with X absolutely blowing up it was sort of painted out that ski was X's sidekick. Ski mask hated that and decided to sort of distance himself and develop his own reputation and style and that created a rift between them for a while. I remember back in high school, 10th grade being so invested in what happened I kept up with it daily. They eventually became really close friends again before x passed
