Thank you I cloned and installed my Samsung Evo 870 . Worked great . No issues other than mine was 8 months old and had a lot of sealing strips . Panels stuck to metal housing . Load times on my heavily modded Skyrim were cut in more than half . Very happy. Thank you for taking the time to make your video .

Kronaut (also by Thermal Grizzly) is a MUCH better choice than liquid metal Conductonaut for a console. It also has great cooling and you don't have to worry about shorting the motherboard out (which can happen over time too, the metal can leak out eventually, and it doesn't look like you even sealed the surrounding area with nail polish\other safety techniques)

Thermal pads and paste and an SSD gave a lot of life to my Xbox One X bought used. Its pads were really badly placed with bad coverage and the paste was predictably dried up. Some Noctua paste and Thermal Grizzly 2mm pads got it running better than ever. A Samsung 870 Evo 2TB SSD was the cherry on top. It boots and runs and installs games much quicker and is far quieter.

I have the One X and ran it both with stock HDD and then 2TB SSD. Then I upgraded to Series X and reused the SSD to triple the storage space. Yes it makes a big difference but due to CPU bottlenecks among other things it'll never touch the speed of the Series X. Red Dead Redemption II used to take about 6 minutes from HDD, 3.5 minutes from SSD, both on One X. Takes 37 seconds on Series X, about 5 seconds with Quick Resume. Either way it's a great upgrade.

But hardly an upgrade, considering the SSD that comes with the Series X is that much better, and of course all its additional features, although I laugh when someone says it looks better on PC or Series X compared to Xbox One and PS4. I’ve compared them. It does look better, yes. But do you want to spend an additional $2,000-$3,000 for a PC that outdoes the One for that very slight up in graphics, or a Series X riddled with issues? Because it’s barely noticeable, it really is.

I played gears of war on the xbox one s, then the xbox one x, then i upgraded to the series x over 8. months ago and i have no big issues. I have upgraded over to gamepass to get newer games day 1 even tho i have over 100+ games in my library already. I dont wanna have to pay up to 70$ for a cross gen bundle of a game that i might not like. The upgrade from a xbox one s to a xbox one x isnt as noticeable if your tv/ monitor doesnt support 4k. Upgrading from the xbox1x to the xboxSX is a noticeable upgrade that even helped out my competive gameplay on gears of war. The quick resume is great. Its still a quiet console but i didnt come from ps4 so its not much of a difference. In my own experience, ive got to explore more of its benefits and little to no issues. The only issue id say i had was when i tried playing halo infinite the first day and it turned off by itself, and it hasnt happened again. Ive already had more issues with my ps5 and i barey got that one about 2 months ago. Spending 2k-3k on a pc is way different than spending 550$ on a console that is meant for only gaming. The ps3 came out at 500$-600$ day one and thay was capable of much less. With other consoles being around the same price. Idk if youre tryna point out that its better to just stick with your old gen console instead of upgrading, which i wont disagree with, if thats all you need to be satisfied. On the other hand, its been over more than 2 years since i last upgraded so ive earned more than enough money to buy a few consoles now, its safe for me to upgrade at my own expense. By your reasoning, i wouldve barely ugraded from a xbox 360 to an xbox one like 2 years ago and wait to upgrade this one, in about another 2-3 years.

Yes and no. The series S is 4TF vs the one X 6TF, HOWEVER... they both run different GPU architecture, polaris in the one X, navi in the series S, and navi is 50% more efficient at getting things done which effectively makes the series S equally as capable GPU wise whilst having newer features. The one x is still severely CPU limited though Not saying it's a bad investment though as the one x is still a great console, and an SSD is way cheaper than a series s

@@50H3i1 i know that, but they could've clocked it at 1.8Ghz like the base xbox one, but instead they further crippled it. It's not like it wasn't widely known that the architecture was dependent on high clock speeds beforehand, so basically crippling the console generation by clocking the jaguar at a measly 1.6Ghz was inexcusable. It was bad enough the base xbox one was 1.8Ghz... One of my Sony fanboy mates convinced me to play a splitscreen bot-match in black ops 4 with him in an attempt to show off the PS4's "performance" Not only did it look like a PS2 game, but the bots absolutely annihilated the CPU and the framerate... yeah, I think the framerate was in the high teens at best 🤣 Now if only all the last gen consoles were clocked at 2.2Ghz like the xbox one x was. I mean it isn't much, but it would have been a huge improvement to the generation nonetheless. Edit, my bad, the base xbox is 1.75Ghz, the one X is 2.3, but my point still stands lol

Warranty Sticker? I'm glad like you said, it's out of warranty before tearing it apart. I must say though that the only reason any company offers a "warranty" is because they don't guarantee the product they sell. A Gaurantee would be much better, after all that would mean they stood behind their product. A warranty on the other hand the customer has to pay for, often times it's a limited warranty because the Quality is not there. Basically the customer is being screwed while the companies rake in huge profits off of products that are OVER PRICED, made for pennies on the dollar. Warranty's are a useless sales pitch to customers, making them feel as though they're actually paying for something they actually need but don't. I had a lengthy argument with Microsoft about this very issue, you know the deal though, it's a billion dollar company so why should they listen to one of their customers. Like the video by the way.

Plus you're not going to get the full speed of the SSD by replacing the internal. You'll get faster response by putting the SSD in an enclosure and using it externally. Even then it's still not going to load as fast as using it with a Series console due to the slow CPU.

@@jtrizzle2000 An internal SSD is actually ever so slightly faster in games on the Xbox One X because unlike the original and the S which have SATA II, the X uses SATA III, which is slightly faster than USB 3.0 and eliminates the slight overhead from using the USB protocol. The main improvements you get over an external SSD however are that boot times become a lot quicker, and responsiveness & search times on the dashboard and in apps are a lot better. It feels a lot more responsive overall, and also makes the console quieter because there's no longer a spinning drive in there.

Great video! How's the fan noise now with the liquid metal? I replaced mine with trusty old AS5 about 7 months ago and I think I've only EVER heard the fan on it once since doing so, and that was inside arktos labs in fallout 76 which just so happens to push one x consoles to either scream like a jet engine at full rated power or just flat out overheat and crash... Yeah I dunno if it's just a poorly coded part of the game or something, but it puts the consoles through hell, and since the thermal compound has been changed, the fan does spin up, but it's not like it's obtrusively loud. It really is a testament to just how well the consoles cooling system works, and just how crap the stock compound is! Maybe, just maybe, for all the hard work they put into developing the cooling, they should've spent like 2 cents more per console and used a thermal paste that actually bloody works 🤣

Yeah its amazing, the first week or so got me quite nervous since I was afraid I killed the fan (I didnt ever hear it). After some inspection the fan seems to work just fine. It is simply that the temperature sensor is in the CPU/GPU itself, and since that is able to transfer its heat to the cooler much better it wont get as hot anymore. Personally I think the noise reduction is worth at least as much as the speed gain. 10/10 would recommend.

Hi, We haven't tested it with those games, but as they are singleplayer games I see no reason why it shouldn't improve the load times. It looks more challenging then it really is. Just be careful with the flatcables, and if you decide to use a conductive thermal paste (like liquid metal), be careful to not put too much on it, or it might short some of the nearby components. Good luck! :)

When you don't know what you're doing and use Conductonaut on an aluminum heatsink - which everyone knows DESTROYS the heatsink... But please tell me what this "YSB" is.... This is what happens when console plebs want to act like they know stuff about computers when any master race would have been screaming at their monitor/phone screen/TV while you were applying the liquid metal thermal paste. Have fun eroding your cooler and having to purchase a new Xbox when it jumps to the Mobo! Nicely done!

@@SeekerGoldstone all my games are on 2tb hdd for ones I don't play often and the ssd is for most played games. The load times are far better and this frees up the internal hdd and it runs smother. You can swap out the internal hdd for the ssd but load times only save a second or two if the ssd is internal compared to USB 3 so I couldn't be bothered with hassle of opening console up.

Hey! One question, Will this work for the original Xbox one (2013 edition)?
@kingtech7146
@kingtech7146 3 жыл бұрын
It will, but the original XBox one has a SATA II connection which maxes out at a theoretical speed of 300mbs (so in practice it will probably be closer to 250). The XBox one S/X have a SATA III connection which maxes out at 600mbs (theoretical, so about 550 in practice). Both consoles also have a USB3.0 port on the back, which is 500mbs, so for the original XBox One you might be better off using an external ssd.

I had no choice but to rip my XBOX ONE X (Scorpio Edition) apart and do this. It would boot up to error screen no matter how many times I reinstalled the OS. (I mean it'd work for a bit and then error out again.) Turns out it's a known problem with the SATA cable failing. I cut the SATA connector in half, keeping the power side, and put in a new 6" sata cable. Never put the drive cage back in LOL...no need, it's not moving. Figured I might as well put in a 2TB SSD and reapply thermal paste. I used Arctic MX-4 I had laying around. I know liquid metal has better thermals...but it's not worth the risk IMHO for the majority of people out there for just a few my degrees.

A 1tb SSD is £113 here in the UK, so it was just easier for me to put another £137 and grab a Series S and enjoy all the benefits of that insanely fast system as well as all the extra graphical bells and whistles that are missing from game slike FH5 on the XBX, i was shocked at how mucg was missing on screen, so my XBX is now boxed up and ready for a trade in at my local CEX, i could never wait minutes now for games to load, the SS has spoiled me foe games loading in seconds now, and as for auto HDR and frame boost.......:D

@@omveerm5634 If you are use to of using a Xbox One S and aren't looking for major upgrades (Visually) then the Series S is perfect for you. I got one for my spouse and they are loving it so far. It is hands down a big upgrade from the Original to the One S. I for one am going to wait to either get a Series X or wait till Microsoft launches a better model of it.

@@omveerm5634 One S has 1.3 teraflops of old GPU processing compared to over 4 teraflops of bang up to date GPU processing plus a CPU that is 8C16T of Zen 2 power which in real terms is twice as fast as your One S Jaguar machine. It also has 8GB of DDR 6 memory which equates to about the throughput of 12GB compared to DDR5 memory. For modern upcoming games it will run better at 1080P than a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X it just doesn't have enough memory for high resolutions, but then again with 4TF of GPU that point is moot. If you pay a small fee you can unlock developer mode and install emulators on it too, I hear the Series S is an awesome little emulator box. Also there are performance features coming into use such as FSR(AMD's sort of version of DLSS) and mesh shaders as well as variable rate shaders which will push the Series S way ahead of the old consoles.
