But hardly an upgrade, considering the SSD that comes with the Series X is that much better, and of course all its additional features, although I laugh when someone says it looks better on PC or Series X compared to Xbox One and PS4. I’ve compared them. It does look better, yes. But do you want to spend an additional $2,000-$3,000 for a PC that outdoes the One for that very slight up in graphics, or a Series X riddled with issues? Because it’s barely noticeable, it really is.

I played gears of war on the xbox one s, then the xbox one x, then i upgraded to the series x over 8. months ago and i have no big issues. I have upgraded over to gamepass to get newer games day 1 even tho i have over 100+ games in my library already. I dont wanna have to pay up to 70$ for a cross gen bundle of a game that i might not like. The upgrade from a xbox one s to a xbox one x isnt as noticeable if your tv/ monitor doesnt support 4k. Upgrading from the xbox1x to the xboxSX is a noticeable upgrade that even helped out my competive gameplay on gears of war. The quick resume is great. Its still a quiet console but i didnt come from ps4 so its not much of a difference. In my own experience, ive got to explore more of its benefits and little to no issues. The only issue id say i had was when i tried playing halo infinite the first day and it turned off by itself, and it hasnt happened again. Ive already had more issues with my ps5 and i barey got that one about 2 months ago. Spending 2k-3k on a pc is way different than spending 550$ on a console that is meant for only gaming. The ps3 came out at 500$-600$ day one and thay was capable of much less. With other consoles being around the same price. Idk if youre tryna point out that its better to just stick with your old gen console instead of upgrading, which i wont disagree with, if thats all you need to be satisfied. On the other hand, its been over more than 2 years since i last upgraded so ive earned more than enough money to buy a few consoles now, its safe for me to upgrade at my own expense. By your reasoning, i wouldve barely ugraded from a xbox 360 to an xbox one like 2 years ago and wait to upgrade this one, in about another 2-3 years.

I must say though that the only reason any company offers a "warranty" is because they don't guarantee the product they sell. A Gaurantee would be much better, after all that would mean they stood behind their product. A warranty on the other hand the customer has to pay for, often times it's a limited warranty because the Quality is not there. Basically the customer is being screwed while the companies rake in huge profits off of products that are OVER PRICED, made for pennies on the dollar. Warranty's are a useless sales pitch to customers, making them feel as though they're actually paying for something they actually need but don't. I had a lengthy argument with Microsoft about this very issue, you know the deal though, it's a billion dollar company so why should they listen to one of their customers. Like the video by the way.

The SSD it's not the only difference. You also need to get rid of those jaguar cores and get a GPU that supports RDNA 2.0 to match any of the series consoles. Nice effort tho.
@jtrizzle20003 жыл бұрын
Plus you're not going to get the full speed of the SSD by replacing the internal. You'll get faster response by putting the SSD in an enclosure and using it externally. Even then it's still not going to load as fast as using it with a Series console due to the slow CPU.
@clairehickey93683 жыл бұрын
@@jtrizzle2000 An internal SSD is actually ever so slightly faster in games on the Xbox One X because unlike the original and the S which have SATA II, the X uses SATA III, which is slightly faster than USB 3.0 and eliminates the slight overhead from using the USB protocol. The main improvements you get over an external SSD however are that boot times become a lot quicker, and responsiveness & search times on the dashboard and in apps are a lot better. It feels a lot more responsive overall, and also makes the console quieter because there's no longer a spinning drive in there.

Great video! How's the fan noise now with the liquid metal? I replaced mine with trusty old AS5 about 7 months ago and I think I've only EVER heard the fan on it once since doing so, and that was inside arktos labs in fallout 76 which just so happens to push one x consoles to either scream like a jet engine at full rated power or just flat out overheat and crash... Yeah I dunno if it's just a poorly coded part of the game or something, but it puts the consoles through hell, and since the thermal compound has been changed, the fan does spin up, but it's not like it's obtrusively loud. It really is a testament to just how well the consoles cooling system works, and just how crap the stock compound is! Maybe, just maybe, for all the hard work they put into developing the cooling, they should've spent like 2 cents more per console and used a thermal paste that actually bloody works 🤣
@kingtech71463 жыл бұрын
Yeah its amazing, the first week or so got me quite nervous since I was afraid I killed the fan (I didnt ever hear it). After some inspection the fan seems to work just fine. It is simply that the temperature sensor is in the CPU/GPU itself, and since that is able to transfer its heat to the cooler much better it wont get as hot anymore. Personally I think the noise reduction is worth at least as much as the speed gain. 10/10 would recommend.

What if you want both though? In order for people with a library of 200+ digital games to get a good benefit out of using an external drive they would need somewhere between 6 to 10 terabytes of space. That can be costly. @kingtech71463 жыл бұрын
Theoretically the SATA III interface is a bit faster then a USB3.0 port, so upgrading the internal disk should be faster. However i did not do any tests with a USB3 drive, so i cant say for sure. Opening up the Xbox also grants you the opportunity to clean the device and replace the thermal paste, which greatly reduces noise. And besides that... this is way cooler :)

Using liquid metal on your Xbox is almost pointless and risky, you can’t overclock it, so the only benefit is it MIGHT run a bit cooler and quieter. But you make a mistake or if liquid metal ends up somewhere it shouldn’t, fried XBOX. I don’t recommend anyone who doesn’t know exactly what they’re doing use liquid metal on anything. Kryonaut is very good and it won’t fry your components, Prolimatech PK-3 is also good too and a bit cheaper, you can get a huge 5 gram tube of it.

Should have grabbed a small electronic vac before you started. That looks like it could have been helpful. It is a 2.5 inch drive. They are pretty standard sizes. You'll be fine. Its not that they use particularly cheap thermal paste, though it sure isn't top of the line stuff. But it also thermal cycles A LOT, which isn't particularly good for longevity. If people would go from gaming, back to dashboard and give it 10 or so minutes to cool down slowly it would last quite a bit longer. But I also understand why no one does that. eh. Is what it is.
