On importing more STEM grads from abroad. 4 people get into an engineering program. 2 wash out (by design usually). 2 eventually graduate. The graduates have such a tough time in the job market, that only 1 of the 2 ends up as an engineer. The other has an engineering degree but is not an engineer. It can be a lot worse among STEM (biology and chemistry majors), and Non-STEM people? We should pray for. America has never lacked people that have the education to do the work. Employers are not interested in young freshly trained graduates or experienced technical people, they want experienced people for CHEAP. This pattern is across industries.

He said he didn't finish Atlas shrugged, tells you a lot about his positions😂 IMO, Economists generally don't care about individuals, they care more about statistics

I had no idea that this was just an advertising method for any and all things from Noah.

Noah is correct that European immigrants to the US have integrated, but he always forgets the elephant in the room, which is black Americans. Despite residing in the US for centuries, and despite being part of mainstream US culture, black Americans continue to have much lower average academic performance and much higher crime rates than white Americans. So there is a group of Americans who have not succeeded as much as historical European immigrants and both historical and more recent East Asian immigrants. Also, the word inferior is loaded and has a connotation of moral value, so it doesn't make much sense to use it here. I doubt Noah thinks of himself as superior to random people he meets, even though Noah obviously has a much higher IQ than the vast majority of the population.

Tbf black Americans are an outlier because of their unique history, what should be more concerning is the slowdown of integration due to the rise of the internet

It's always interesting to me how people like Noah and others that simp hard for Japan but also think mass Immigration is a great thing fro places like the US. Do they think theres no connection between the things they like about Japan and how generally "closed" of a society they are in comparison to the US and most of the West?
@handlethisnut3 ай бұрын
Care to define the "mass immigration" that Noah supports according to you?

You missed a previous episode where Noah discussed Japan's immigration in more detail. Japan is accepting a rapidly growing number of non-Japanese Asians from South East Asian countries like Vietnam. Also they have historically been very culturally open, and were one of the first countries to embrace Western culture and technology. So no, they are not "closed".

JAPAN HAS A LOT OF IMMIGRANTS NOW AND THEY’RE ALLOWING MORE TO COME IN. LISTEN TO NOAH’S EARLIER EPISODE WHERE TALKS ABOUT IT

@@jaythefox LOL No. Japan has no interest in taking in hordes of unskilled foreign migrants despite the hysterical whining of the Banksters and Western Financial (aka Parasite) Class.

Sorry but UK (Rolls-Royce) and France both have domestic production of advanced Jet engines. In fact RR is the only foreign supplier of Jet Engines to the US military (F-35B).

@@chickenfishhybrid44 Yeah I got it wrong. Its not the core engine But my point still basically stands. UK and France can make military grade jet engines, passenger jet engines plus nuclear submarine engines. Very exclusive club. But Noah has particularly negative feelings toward the UK (i.e. yelling at the UK for having worse race riots than the US when nobody died and it lasted just 4 days. Unlike any day of the week in the US). I mean UK is in a bad place but not any less than Japan.
@matthewjohnbornholt6483 ай бұрын
@@tomnorman9047 Noah's knows sufficiently much to say quite stupid things. It happens to a lot of public figures. Omnivorous Econ Bloggers can only know so much. (N/B UK suffers from natural assumption of all Americans they inherit complete understand of everything England is). He really does know the Japanese case very well. I can confirm that much.
