Look, it's just part of medical classification. It doesn't mean your condition isn't serious Ideally you shouldn't even know such details because it's the information for your doctors (I mean the info about severity, you should know that you have depression) to work with. They classify depending on several different factors: if you're able to sleep, walk, eat, take care of yourself and your surroundings, socialize, etc not just if you had s attempts or not As far as I know, people with depression classified as 'severe', are not eating, moving, taking baths. They are not talking, or sleeping, they just stare at one point on the wall for weeks and months, unable to do anything That doesn't mean your condition shouldn't be treated or could be taken lightly, or that you don't suffer, it's just classification Hope that clarifies this a bit
@Maxcallaghanphysics3 жыл бұрын
hey noah the disordered eating you are refering is called afrid (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder) its very common among people with adhd and autsim. it is to do with textures smells and executive disfunction. i have it too, its techically classed as an eating disorder and u can get diagnosed with it, but theres not really anything they can do about it

I'm afab nonbinary so I hate being in women's bathrooms, locker rooms etc. bc of the gender dysphoria but I miss when a random girl complements my outfit or asks me for a pad. it's just the feeling of solidarity and that we know we can depend on each other that's really special. recently tho i went to camp and was in the girl's cabin and I had a really cool experience where we were all helping each other pick outifts and doing each others hair before this fancy dinner. it was one of the first time ive done that since realizing i'm trans and what made it especially cool was that they all knew and respected my pronouns and they helped me style my binder with an open shirt 😭 ive never been in a situation like that and i was scared they would get weirded out but they were so nice. someone asked me what a binder means and when i explained they were like oh! i didn't know that was a thing, how cool. and then they were hyping me up and encouraging me to wear my binder like it was a tank top to the event like 💞

My issue with “cancel culture” is that the people doing the cancelling don’t give people a chance to apologize or allow for personal growth. If someone said or did something, whether it was decades ago or more recently, and they want to make a genuine apology or make amends for it, they shouldn’t have their career ruined. They just don’t seem to have any sense of forgiveness.
@Meeko4eve393 жыл бұрын
Yes to all of this. I agree. Plus, (while I have no evidence for this claim/theory... In part because I am NOT the type of person to purposefully go looking for people's "problematic/cancel-worthy past") it feels like the people doing the cancelling are sitting on a kind of collective high horse/have a "holier than thou" attitude as if they have never done anything wrong in their lives and had always behaved in ways that is in accordance with the current understanding of what is/should be acceptable, well-informed behaviour without ever having needed to go through a learning process themselves. And that sort of attitude... Is just so disingenuous. Additionally, they also don't seem to take into account that not everyone has the same background (socially, culturally) and the same opportunity and ability to access certain kinds of information. So that overall I often get the feeling that some people involved in what is called cancel culture lack the ability to show forgiveness, as you've stated in your comment, and lack the ability to see nuance, possibly as a result of their "holier than thou"/high horse attitudes. And that's just both sad and unfair.
@TigerheartedWolf3 жыл бұрын
It's because the people that do that don't care about forgiveness or people learning from their mistakes. They are just a pack of dogs going after people because it's the thing to do these days.

Agreed, also a lot of people will just follow the crowd and go with whatever someone said someone did. At around 5 minutes is so pertinent. As a gay cis male, the way my straight male friends talked about women was quite disgusting and shocking too. Because I was still closeted at the time I guess they felt it acceptable to talk about them this way (them thinking I was one of the 'straight' lads). Its amazing the things men say around each other to other men...

@brooklynn39143 жыл бұрын
@@ferretthegremlin hmm. well my boyfriend is a trans (ftm) and he struggles with dysphoria a lot so i may be able to help. if you want to be more feminine maybe try experimenting with makeup, or feminine clothing. whatever makes you feel good! and society can be harsh but don’t listen to what anyone says. do what makes YOU happy! remember that there will always be people who support you! ik i’m a random person but i support you and i can imagine you are a beautiful woman! i hope this helps even a little bit

tbh i do still feel a lil bitter about not being allowed to be myself til a year ago (i was 18) but i think its bcus i was so vocal abt being a boy & i legit 'came out' with the proper language (said im trans) several times from the ages of 12-17 so its like if they had listened or even just let me cut my hair & wear the clothes i wanted as a kid then yeah but they didnt & they r accepting now so i try so hard not to feel this way bcus i know its more society than them u know but yeah i need to work on not looking back to the past when it cant be changed

100% agree with you on the sexist part, i still find it extremely upsetting how cis guys will talk about women when they're "alone" but it doesn't bother me anymore to just point out how ridiculous they sound. surprisingly many will admit they don't mean it sooo

Just a few weeks ago the psychiatrist that prescribes me antidepressants mentioned how in his opinion that my anxiety and depression is very mild, and at the time I didn't understand why that irritated me. But the way you phrased your own experiences made me realize that it irritated me because even though I've never attempted to physically harm myself, depression is still something I have to actively push back against practically everyday, not to mention the constant struggle with worsening anxiety, so saying that what I'm dealing with is very mild while I'm expending this great amount of effort in combating it just immediately demoralized me.

it actually made me so happy when you talked about sensory issues and food, I teared up a little. I have adhd and autism and I have always really struggled with food because I have such severe sensory issues - my whole life I got so much hate and judgement for being a "fussy eater" I hated myself so much for it, but how you described it as physical pain (not just food, all sensory issues) is honestly so accurate I wish neurotypical people would understand that sensory issues aren't just an over sensitivity or being easily irritable, it's literally being in so much pain, that in that moment you would rather die than continue being subject to that sensory experience

I really appreciate you making this video. these questions are extremely difficult to answer and the fact that you tackled them on the internet is very commendable. as someone who is non-binary and living in a homophobic, transphobic environment, I really value my education on these topics. it can be very difficult to not waver to their toxic thinking. you're videos really help crush the internalised transphobia they create in me. and for that, I am very grateful. thank you Noah! 💛

i really dont think people understand what adhd does to your ability to have a healthy relationship with food. I remember as a kid eating tuna every single day for a month then i couldnt even look at it for 6 months lol
@Sophie-cm2un3 жыл бұрын
I had same thing with milk and cheese. I used to love those as a kid and now I just can’t stand them anymore. My mom thought yogurt drinks were the solution: now I hate those too. The only dairy products I can stand are yogurts that contain a lot of fat like greek yogurt, and softer cheeses like cream cheese, goat cheese and mozzarella. Also my relationship with butter improved a bit: I don’t gag anymore.

Ok, I've always wondered why I always seemed to like feel the textures of food way more than other people. And like why 90% of the day, food will make me gag and physically shiver. I've never found anybody who also struggles with it in the way that it isn't an eating disorder, like I have certain foods that I love and would eat for every meal if I could. I just wanted to say that the way you explained it just really clicked with something in my brain and made that part of me feel incredibly validated, so thank you.

I had what you could call disordered eating as well. mine was due to heartburn and laziness though. In early high school I did have a problem with only eating one meal a day on purpose but eventually I no longer was trying to do so, It just kind of became all I could eat. I stopped feeling hungry and got a lil bit depressed, mostly eating liquid foods. when I got my wisdom teeth out, that's when everything went to hell, I could ONLY eat liquid foods for 3 months straight, and that changed my stomach acid drastically and made it near impossible for me to eat anything solid without feeling like the sun was burning my insides. It took a longggg time but eventually I got back into eating solids recently but still to this day my hunger rarely shows up, I have to REMEMBER to eat which is hard when im a full-time artist and a part time retail worker, I never have much time to myself to unwind and have a nom.

don’t gaslight yourself about being an influencer! my best friend is an influencer and i lived with her for a year. the work she puts in is INSANE and exhausting. all for, what seems like to her viewers, a very small easy video. she works every single day and doesn’t allow herself to relax. the only time i saw her relax was when she pushed herself too hard and her body and brain said “no” and she crashes. it’s an extremely demanding job and you’re allowed to acknowledge that. there are so many things happening behind the scenes that people who have never been exposed to the other side don’t notice. you’re doing great and you’re also working very hard and it shows in the quality of your content.

As someone with ADHD I totally understand what you're going through with food. I'm on the carnivore diet though and doing really well. There's a billion ways to cook meat and there's a lot of meat varieties that keep things relatively fresh and keep it from being boring so maybe give that a try instead? Might help. I do still eat some vegetables and some fruit (cabbage and strawberries specifically) and they help as a kind of palate cleanser if I've eaten too much of one type of meat. Cheese helps as well of course and there's millions of varieties of cheese to eat.
