I lived in Alabama for 30 years and lived about a mile from a farm that grew strawberries in the Spring. You could pick them yourself or buy them already picked. They were the sweetest, most delicious strawberries I have ever tasted! In the summer they had any and every vegetable and even peach trees. In the Fall they had a pumpkin patch. They also had a giant corn maze and hay rides around Halloween. Just amazing. I miss it so much. 🍓 🍑 🍅 🥒 🧅 🎃

100% agree -- when I was a kid we had wild strawberries in the neighborhood and the large commercial fields produced great tasting berries. Today the strawberry has been engineered to be huge, beautifully red, capable of rough handling during shipment, but are utterly tasteless. The modern Frankenfruit taste like flavored paper pulp! One of my hopes with vertical farming and the other controlled environment growing techniques is a return to the smaller, sweeter, more tasteful strawberries of my youth -- here's hoping that happens!
@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep3 жыл бұрын
@@Raptorman0909 Ya it sucks. I also lived where berries were grown comercially and grew wild. I miss what a real fruit tastes like. Blackberries either just taste like water or like some chemical taste. Peaches are woody and tasteless. Blueberries and apples are some of the few things that still taste normal. Even honeydews seem largely to have no flavor anymore it's crazy.
@mynoxx013 жыл бұрын
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep Where I live we have strawberry fields where you can harvest yourself in the summer, you pay what you picked into your basket but you are allowed to eat as much as you like directly off the plants. Those are the best, so many childhood memories eating summer warm sweet strawberries until I feel like my belly bursts.
@Raptorman09093 жыл бұрын
@@mynoxx01 -- We used to have 'You-pick-em' farms with great strawberries but they're all gone now. In fact, growing up we had numerous apple orchards and strawberry farms within a few mile of my house and I remember as a teen partying in the orchards and having apple fights when it got dark. The idiots that smoked got, well, smoked as the glow from the cigarettes would give them away. We were supposed to only pick up the fallen fruit, but the crisp ones on the trees were a lot easier to throw -- and made more of an impression on the sap that got hit!

Have a question, looks amazing, efficient and effective... Are they as nutrition information compared to nutrients from the earth's ground... Thank you
@w0lf1493 жыл бұрын
I can help answer as the person who uploaded the video just liked your comment. Fucking annoying when they do that. All nutrients mixed in hydroponics are natural ingredients. You can look the recipe up online. Earths soil will always produce better tasting fruit/vegetables. Hydroponic growing is a sustainable way to feed large masses using quality ingredients. There are chemicals out there companies use to add to their base ingredients which is just straight up poison. Tl;dr - soil grown food = taste better but slower growth Hydro grow = sustainable and quicker to produce

@@w0lf149 I appreciate that you acknowledge the superior flavor and nutrition of soil-grown fruit. I have a small strawberry patch that yields heavily because we maintain a very healthy, organic soil, but this spring I'll be testing using arbuscular fungi in the compost I use to top dress to see if it makes a difference. My understanding is that arbuscular fungi reduce he water demands of strawberries. We usually have abundant water in the spring in my area, but the winter has been unusually dry so far so we'll see.

I used to work in strawberry farms in uk, as "eastern european" . hard work :). believe me, none indian and non afro black white afro afro american - french uk german - didn't work there. each time you pick more - each time they pay less for one kilo :D. but, yes, sometimes I was lucky to earn up to 80-100 pounds per day without fees. all that heat, if you work in greenhouse and dirt, and you must be quick and look for quality. in the fields we f*ked up our shoes really quickly (one pair 2 -4 weeks), our backs and knees, and if there was rainy, we had day off.
