Noam Chomsky is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, political commentator, social justice activist, and anarcho-syndicalist advocate. Sometimes described as the "father of modern linguistics", Chomsky is also a major figure in analytic philosophy. He has spent most of his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he is currently Professor Emeritus, and has authored over 100 books. He has been described as a prominent cultural figure, and was voted the "world's top public intellectual" in a 2005 poll.
Chomsky spoke on the "Cognitive Revolution" at the University of Girona in Spain in November of 1992.

The concept of universal grammar not only leads to an innovative understanding of linguistics, ideas, philosophy , history and science , but also to an understanding of human nature, value of existence, and the distinction between humans and other living things.

How is this possible? How is this guy's grasp of the scope of consciousness and philosophy even possible? Every time he leans back and asks an elementary question about assumptions that scientists seem to share, he is challenging....I dunno? I don't know philosophy well enough to even listen to this man but it feels like an antidote to everything.

Who is the writer on mathematical creation he talks about at 1,31.26 . Its sounds like "Adem R "had this book on mathematical creation in which he asks people how they do it... he's an important mathematician"

@@Aaron-wy9nb I know I'm very helpful. Well done me! It took quite a bit of googling around. Chomsky saying a French surname beginning with H when he had a heavy cold and then not putting the name on the blackboard did not help me :-)

@@kieronmcnulty6177 he somehow always gets quieter and less clear while saying someone’s name. That is the one thing that annoys me about his talks
