"The Withdrawal" is an outstanding read! This past week Native Americans started walking from Minneapolis, Minnesota to the capital in D.C. to try and free Leonard Peltier, I wish them safe travels and hope that Leonard will be set free!

This is bullshit. As someone with LOTS (8000 hours) of experience running a country using Civilization 6, if my country is declining, I will just build sea walls on all my cities, then switch all my power plants to run on coal, cause climate change to worsen to stage 6, then watch meteors fall and destroy my enemies. 🤣

Imo, nah it isn't. Europe also fought in the war and they are doing fine except apparently people don't really talk about their role as much. For all the talk of America being an international bully, Europe dodges these accusations all the time including from the American left and apparently their history is also largely forgotten.

@@therationalist234 Agreed, we hate the current form the U.S., we don't hate the U.S. itself. We criticize capitalism because we want the U.S. to have a system that is for the majority of people, not for corporations. We don't want to see the U.S. fail just to see the U.S. fail the way right wingers portray us.

I remember Chomsky likening capitalism to what Ghandi said about civilization- it would be nice if we actually tried it. But at 0:45 he says: "A capitalist society would destroy itself in five minutes." I have recently come to the conclusion that any system- capitalism, communism, socialism even (and by "even" I mean "especially") anarchism could provide for a better quality of life for all concerned if properly managed through regulation. I guess since Chomsky isn't the dewey eyed optimist he used to be he has had to resolve to the fact that of all systems, capitalism is the most likely to fail the most people.

Right we're not tankies because instead we believe in the so-called "justice democrat" progressives who talk a big talk about domestic policy then they go ahead and approve every war funding budget put in front of them. Like Lenin said: social democrats are opportunists, nothing more. Go back to the DSA and write another useless letter to congress and cosplay as socialists more?
